How is ur leather strap for Hermes holding up? I have a cape cod double tour (just got it this year). I only wear them on weekends so worried the leather strap won’t be holding up as I wash my hands a lotI have no idea but all I know is my DH who loves watches invests his money in Jaeger Le Coultre and doesn't especially rate Hermes watches..That said my Hermes automatic keeps far better time than my Rolex (which I never wear) and I have a Quartz Cape cod too that I've had for over 5 years and am very happy with.
My Cape Cod double tour is I think 16 years old (used to be my husband's) and the strap has only been changed once about 9 years ago (and then because I wanted to change color). How is ur leather strap for Hermes holding up? AP commissioned Gerald genta to design the Royal oak, the first men’s SS luxury watch, and he was the one inspired by the diving helmet. if I recall correctly GG also designed the PP nautilus (not sure if the story there was that GG drew it on a napkin), several bulgari watches, as well as for many other iconic brands Including his own eponymous line. IMO the Hermes H08 design is clearly inspired by GG.I have a Cape Cod watch. In fact my only watch. It is simple and elegant.
As a side note, once I blurred to my SA that I didn't understand the hype with Audemars Piguet because it reminded me of Robocop (the original one)![]()
. With a big grin he told me 'of course'. Turns out the design was inspired by a diving helmet

See, I am a total noob when it comes to watchesAP commissioned Gerald genta to design the Royal oak, the first men’s SS luxury watch, and he was the one inspired by the diving helmet. if I recall correctly GG also designed the PP nautilus, several bulgari watches, as well as for many other iconic brands Including his own eponymous line. I have a cape cod double tour and the etoupe double strap is extremely sturdy. Though when I wear it, I try not to get it wet.
And my SA is now in S.........d for H ( he is an expert in watches). What could be a intelligent question about watches? The H08 was an important watch for Hermes bc H acquired 25% of Vaucher a Swiss watchmaker and I believe moved its location to France. Or vice versa, I forget. The idea was to launch a modern luxury sports watch with serious watchmaking credentials and Hermes style for under 10K USD. DH was asking my SA about this watch before it came to the boutique bc it was written up in various watch reviews. It sadly sells for well under retail on the secondary market. DH got the graphene version and wears it as an under the radar travel watch.

ETA: my recall is extremely imperfect, so any correction is very welcome
One of mine came with a crocodile double tour strap (the quartz one)and because I too wash my hands a lot I changed that for a goatskin double strap that I had made. How is ur leather strap for Hermes holding up? Thank you. That’s what I have, barenia strap in gold for my cape cod! The leather feels super nice. One of mine came with a crocodile double tour strap (the quartz one)and because I too wash my hands a lot I changed that for a goatskin double strap that I had made.
My other watch came with the stainless steel strap but because its an automatic the movement and strap made it feel quite heavy (both watches are GM not PM size) so I changed that for a swift double tour strap and that has held up fine.
I think the straps are pretty durable except the crocodile.
I'm going to buy a barenia strap for my quartz watch shortly.
My friend has had her barenia strap on hers for over a decade she wears her watch daily, it has patina (has darkened a lot)but still looks lovely (worn yes, aged yes, but still looks so nice I'm going to buy one)Thank you.
