Hmm, don't know what they are, looks like a pen dot mark you could try a soft pink eraser and see if it lifts off, take good care though too much rubbing and pressure will remove or push your grains down and make a more noticable blemish than you have now. OK?
As for preventing more? Don't know what your marks are so I can not answer this question.
Hi Docride

Thank you for your response. It is not a pen dot mark. I did try a soft eraser and it didn't work. The dot seems to be embedded. Hope it is not some sort of mold. :(

I just bought a Louis vuitton petit noe "epi leather" and I have absolutely no idea how to take care of the leather.. I used to own a horse, so I remember cleaning his tack, I believe i still have some leather products but im not so sure if that is what I should go for with my loui :p What are you best advices for taking care of leather like "epi leather" from the beginning so my pretty little bag can have a longer and healthier life?

Docride - I have just spent a week reading all 424 pages of this thread and you are just amazing. I have learned so much and can't thank you enough for sharing your expertise with such generosity. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I have just started the Blackrock treatment on my black box Kelly (10 years old and used regularly and lovingly throughout). After the two treatments, and the removal of the black polish from her last H spa visit, I notice a lot of what I think they call "crazing"- slightly worn away, discolored areas.
Here are a few pictures - hope you can see what I mean.

My question: should I complete the traditional B&O procedure for box calf (Bx2, Ox2, then one more B), or should I skip the O and treat the bag with a full application of Meltonian black to restore the color, then buff? Or might you have another suggestion?

Your help is so greatly appreciated. This was my first Kelly and she is my baby so I don't want to make a mistake. I've conditioned her for years but alas, I had not found your thread and probably chose all the wrong products and procedures!

Thank you again,
Juliet

PS: In contrast, I also just completed two coats of Blackrock on a much newer box Kelly (this one is souple and has been kept pristine except for very minor rubs on the corners- which are now barely noticeable after the Blackrock).

She looks brand new - wow! All scratches gone. I will now proceed to the Ox2 and last coat of B. Hopefully this will help her from some of the problems I've encountered with my other Kelly.
Thanks again, Juliet.

Dear Doc, I found a real bargain Le 24 coin purse in orange feu (tangerine orange as you would say :))), in bad state. I decided to get it so cheap and in bad state because I wanted to practice colour restoration. I intended to use TARRAGO SELF SHINE SHOE DYE WITH PREPARER. I ordered "pale orange" #103 and "red orange" #28 as only oranges available with that seller, but you mentioned in earlier posts

"Woly shoe cream in koralle 179 .... Hard to find but worth it due to the superior color stay aspect and that it's the best match by far"

"mixing a custom orange with little bit of red and yellow #7 and a small dash of cream white..it's a bit of a nightmare..anyhow you'll get a close-ish match..do a tiny amount and a very thin sponge application to just the problem areas then when it's dry you can polish over with the Wolly in Korale to match it up"

Would this be for Hermes orange or this tangerine orange Hermes has in chevre (I have many items in that colour including "GM notebook, which luckily does not need anything)

Thanks in advance, Vesna

Hi there,
Yes remember you, nice to see you're back with another project. Let's not rush the conditioning process,I would stay away from using anything with high oil content at this point so no Hermes Saddle baume. I like the Meltonian delicate ,I like high ratio gycerine : fine waxes containing products for very very very dry leathers ...then moving on to fine waxes containing products (like Blackrock's leather N Rich). I would stay with the meltonian delicate for anothr round or two over the next few days allowing the leather to rest inbetween each treatment and not overly maniplulating the leather during this period. Keeping the bag at room temperature not adding additional external heat would also be prudent. I look forward to seeing your photos. Congrats on your Grand Dame Kelly!

Hi Doc. I've given two more layers of MD and am encouraged. I've posted some pics, including the first one from before any treatment. After a few layers of MD, my Grand Dame stands a bit straighter. I know the split leather on the sides should have been a dead give-away that there were issues but I was hoping the bag was just mis-treated, not neglected... The last pic is my new Grand Dame with her little sister, kelly 28.

Also, I think the creaking that you've described in past posts is reduced, would that be a hallucination on my part or should that minimize with healthy moisture treatments? Would I now move on to Blackrock or do you have another suggestion? The worst part is definitely the flap, but the whole bag definitely feels more supple.

Same advice for yours:smile1: You will still need to use a good eye for color to custom mix. You can also custom mix a Tarrago polish too with the same colors as mentioned above. Keep in mind with the color dye it will dry darker than it appears when wet.
Good luck.

Hi Docride

My Kelly black box calf is just back from Hermes spa and I like to waterproof it as the recent weather here is raining really often. Would you recommend treating it with Obenauf? Thks

If your bag has just returned in from H spa it's been polished, polish can help weather protect ,if this is a bag which has many spas already it may have a built up patina and need not require additional weather protection at this time.
Obenauf's will remove the polish that H has jusy applied during spa. Tell me more about your bag is it older, vintage or newer or new?

First off great job!:smile1: She looks quite nice. Yes, she is probably not as creaky now that she has been conditioned. If you have her feeling flexible again then yes move on to Blackrock's Leather N Rich for a round or two. Follow after resting the leather with some good polish and buffing to bring up your Grand Dames shine.

Hello, So happy to hear you are learning and keen to take on your projects with care and attention to details. In your case I would use Blackrock 1-2x lightly making certain you have removed all the excess, skip the Obenauf's LP and move on to a high pigment or staining polish You can try Lincoln Stain Wax in black .. or a Miltary dress black polish. Please, let me know when you get it in...and I'll walk you through pushing the pigment in to the areas of color loss.

The bag is produced in the 90s with a C stamp, and I have recently purchased from a reseller hence no history on how many times it went to spa with its previous owner. It's in a good condition overall. I am just worried of water blister hence not bringing it out in the rainy weather. Is box calf fragile to water?
