I think it's a great deal,it's a really handy bag;) Good luck.
PS> There are things that can be done to make it look better BTW,so if you want help with it just come on back, and I'll share some tips with you.:smile1:

Thanks for your offer.. If I'll buy it, I'll contact you. I recently bought a nice Birkin 40 in a nice sand brown color which is over all in realy good condition..just the handles have some darker places ..I guess from the dirt on the hands (the bag is from 1991). The edges are having also some discolored places and on one edge is a kinda small hole (well its actually not a hole but I have no idea how to explain it..the material is a little bit damaged).. I was thinking about asking you what I could do to make the bag look better..maybe I'll post some pictures from the bag.

Yes it's quite common,it's an easy fix just take it in to H they will reburnish your edges with a resin wax for you,it's not all that expensive but I do not know the actual price H charges.

Thankyou so much! I really appreciate your help! Your knowledge is amazing, thankyou for sharing and I'll take my bag to get repaired :)

thanks again!

Hi Docride.. I've just took the pictures. I'm currious if you think I could do something on my own or if you sugest I should send the bag for a spa treatment? Is it correct that you buy second hand Hermès bags, restore and resell them? If I'm right, what do you think my Birkin is worth right now?
Thanks in advance for your help
Gabriel

Firstly the thing to ask yourself is will a basic clean, polish and buff remedy my bag? IMO,the answer is no,you have holes in the leather and cracking and discolored leather. So,a basic Hermes spa (clean ,condition and polish) will not sort those things out.

If you have no leather restoration experience what so ever, an expensive Hermes bag might not be the best first project...

You are looking at an involved restoration including; filler and leather patches on the corners, possibly filler and / or resurfacing of the handles , possibly degreaser and color work for the handles and certainly some color dye touch ups for the discolorations plus cleaning and conditioning and polish...

IMO it would be in poor form for me to answer some of your other questions, regarding hand bag value, sell prices and my actual profession. I do hope you understand that this is not a proper format for them. But, I can point you in the research direction, perhaps start looking at completed listings on auction sites to guage the worth of your bag.

Good luck.:smile1:

Hi Doc,

I have a box leather Bearn wallet and I would like to reapply colour and polish it up, can you please advise instructions on this. Thanks, I have the Valmore concentrated cream in the right colour. Also what kind of cloth should I use?

Where can one buy TOGO. I have a really bad Coach bag that needs lots of TLC. Any other suggestions in cleaning it up will also be appreciated.

High Gylcerine based cleansers are nicer than harsh lye based ones..only use on very very diry bags one the leathers that can tollerate this is Togo. I like Lexol PH liquid..do not over do it just get a really nice sudsy soft cloth and do circular (small ones) movements do not press hard or get the bag saturated with water...lightly lift off the suds..and buff when dry... Make sure you have removed any heavy dirt /sand before hard or your end up scratching the bag..yep even TOGO can scratch...

Are you looking to do color touch up with dye and then colored polish? Not sure I understand....
You will need a lint free cloth for applying polish and one for buffing.

Hello, Togo is a leather type not a cleaner.;) Depending on the type of leather you have you may find several products which may work for you here in the begining of the thread. You might also ask around on the the Coach Subforum for help.

Do you think this bag can be helped? The two black streaks on the fold are made when the drawstring is used are the worst part. The strap is also grungy as well as the piping on the bottom

If so, how would you go about it?

Thanks.
