It is a 70cm , Rendezvous vous au galant , is very silky
1. Just looked it up on web site, which says only SILK , not very useful
2. the store tag does say SOIE VINTAGE
So, I guess it must be the 10-15 year old drapy silk weave that was called VINTAGE SILK , which is not the same thing as TWILL weave, Wiki defines TWILL a better than I can, sadly Wiki does not define the VS weave
3. Could be a new sizing
4. Interesting how colors soak through to the back, COOL. No where does it say double sided
I wonder what is the definition of vintage silk too. I assumed it was a silk in twill weaving, like a 90, but for some reason all my 70s are much more subject to pulled threads. There must be something different…I will look again at the weaving with more attention when I’m back home in a couple of weeks

Based on my experience and research, the vintage silk is less "crispy" and has a very soft, "broken-in" feeling. I'm not sure though, if it's a different type of silk, or if the weave pattern or thread count is different. I have a couple of this type and will definitely buy more...they feel divine!

Love the vintage silk too … 70s usually but don’t always use it
The tricky thing is that the web sites don’t always say what type of silk is used - and the caretag just says 100 percent silk
Hermes is not known for their attention to web site/advertising/labeling accuracy/completeness

The 70s are mostly SOIE VINTAGE but not all. The moniker from store tag.
IMHO, i think the SOIE VINTAGE threads - warp and weft - are not of equal diameter, as they are in twill. The threads are loosely wrapped one around each other, in some fancy way. The wrapping does two things - the silk seems to be thicker but also more full of air. The thin gauge thread - think mohair sweater - makes it puffy but is subject to pulls.
Just empirical thoughts , I can tell the difference between twill and VS in good photos.
The upsetting thing is that, once the store tag is removed, there is nothing to tell you the weave type, just fabric content (silk, cotton ). And the moniker VINTAGE silk is ambiguous, old/worn scarf or diff weave ??
