Before the FedEx guy had even gotten back in his truck I had opened my orange box.
L’Art du Sarasa, cw 01. I had originally struggled with this only because I worried about the borders. Worry no more - it’s perfect. So happy with this!

You should be modelling it on h.com, so much better than the shots already there. This will be great all year round and every occasion depending on how it's tied. Love the brown stripe against the aqua particularly.

Actually, I think we alike with many of our scarf choices. This one also peaked my interest with its contrasting elements, esp this cw. However, with 3 scarves already this season on top of what is now a considerable collection I need to justify every purchase. I made a bargain with myself that if something didn't come up for AW20 that I liked better I'd try this. So far I'm not in love with the new season so I am so grateful for all your mod shots.

Thank you very much! The first look shows more of the checkers… I thought "Well, I finally have my scarf for the 500 Race!" :giggle:
But seriously, I know the checkered area was an issue for some; I was less worried about that than I was about the border… Now I know the border isn't an issue at all and the checkers add interest to the scarf.
The story about the scarf says that Sarasa is Portuguese for calico - much of calico is checkers!
@Cookiefiend it is true, the checkered area was not a winner for me. But after seeing your mod pics it became another scarf. So I had to look at it flat once more and also to read the story:

L’Art du Sarasa (Aline Honoré) H003273S 90cm
The story behind
Beginning in the 16th century and throughout the Edo period, which lasted from the early 17th to 19th centuries, Portuguese merchants exported Indian calicos, or textiles, to Japan. Geometric-shaped patterns in bright-colored cotton fabrics were in stark contrast to the indigo-colored hemp and cotton compositions inherent to Japan's textiles at the time. Sarasas, a term derived from the Portuguese word for calicos, rose in popularity and were soon produced by Japanese weavers. The weavers perpetuated the decorative style, incorporating their own ideas over time. Drawing inspiration from the history of these fabrics, Aline Honore created a sumptuous kimono, sewn together by a patchwork of motifs.

You are so welcome and thank you for your kind words!
This color way is so versatile, I think it will be a real workhorse scarf.

The flat pictures really don't do it justice. The colors are so much more interesting - they're both warm and cool and play so well together. It's truly an example of H magic!
(and I was thrilled to find a phoenix!)

Oooh this is an elegant CW, and I don't remember it. I think people objected to the picnic table effect of many of the CWs, but this one really is cool! So much variety in your knots! Congrats.

EDIT: the website photo is horrible! However did you take a chance on it? Well done.

Same here! I am not salivating over anything from AW20, and this is so intriguing!!! Cookie, you monster! LOL

Thank you! Yeah - the website photos are awful - as usual!
I found one up for sale on Evil Bay (at twice the price :whut: ), and the photos were gorgeous. Like 'How on earth did I miss this??' gorgeous. Seeing those photos made me realize it's a sleeper - NO one seems to know how beautiful it is. I *had* to have it.
I'll admit that I had stayed away from it because I was worried about those borders - I was worried they would be too obvious - but they are not. I think too that since I had only seen one person wear the scarf at all (on IG, the yellow cw), I couldn't see how gorgeous it was until I saw those photos on eBay.

You are a bad girl, you have to go to church and repent:
"I made a woman on another continent spend money"

I resisted this scarf since it was released: "such a weird pattern" - "the karo reminds me of something else" - "too busy" - "all the CWs are somehow weird..." - "I am sure this does not tie well" - "the weather never is right for wearing 90ies, I have too much already"

AND NOW I WANT IT!
And what works for you usually works for me as well. You did such a great job presenting it with all the different ties!
And it will go well with the jacket I recently got...

Oh Honeylocks - you made me burst out laughing!
I also had trouble with it when it first came out, I didn’t see it in the boutique last year (or in January), and I’ve only ’seen’ (on IG) the yellow one, but when I finally saw this cw - Eureka!
I’ll be the first to congratulate you on your new beauty! :hugs:

Seriously, if I get any good news in the next 24 hours, I'm buying this scarf!

I was actually debating on getting CW7 for this scarf...I think you've convinced me! Canadian H.com has a lot of other CWs still available too.
