Is it the same SA (just joined 3 months ago) who told you this?

You may want to try getting a birkin overseas, it is faster, cheaper and cause you less stress if you are not into buying other things from Hermes.

nope, it was a male SA, though also from Liat who told me that. I was asking him if there was any way that i could be bumped up the waiting list and basically his underlying meaning was to tell me to spend lots of money, LOL

yes im going to japan next month, hope it will be a fruitful trip! :graucho:

Since you are going to Japan, I suggest just getting your Birkin there. For about 2-3k SGD extra (above local retail), there's a wide choice of colors and leathers ready for the picking.

Oh you'll definitely be able to get from Japan. Even thou it is more expensive, it would be cheaper in the long run than buying here. Good luck! Buy two if you can! :p Do a reveal when you come back.

The birkins here are for the regulars and the big spenders. It would be hard to get so going overseas is the solution.

i just started jumping on the h bandwagon in nov last year with my first B, but ive been hooked ever since then. I hope to collect as many as i can, if my poor wallet allows, that is.

I want to get a couple in Japan, and have even called ahead to see if i could try to possibly book them, but they currently don't have what i want in stock now, even though what i want is pretty basic - basic leathers and basic colours. :weird: The SA has told me she will look out for them for me though.

So you see, when i come back from my trip, i would hope that i could possibly get some from the Singapore boutiques too. actually got 3 of my birkins from a reseller in spore, but my heart almost stopped when i posted photos for authentication in the authentication thread and was told they were fake?!

decided to make a police report and went down to Liat to ask for the SA's statement, but luckily the master craftsman was there and the SA was kind enough to tell me that they were not. very very kind of her.

ok, long story short, i just hope that i could find a way to get some Bs in singapore in addition to those that may possibly be acquired overseas! hopefully from the boutiques, as i have a slight phobia of resellers now. any help is much appreciated :)

90cm silk scarves are retailing for S$620. 70cm S$490? There's also the gavroche/pochette which is 45cm (S$2xx) and GM cashmere/silk shawls which are 140cm (S$1,750). Each year, there are 2 seasons of collection (SS and AW) whereby new designs are created and old patterns reissued.

It is best for you to go down to the boutiques to try them out, to get a feel of the silk/cashmere, the different patterns and colours. It's all very personal, the choices. The SAs would be more than happy to introduce them to you.

You can also look through the scarf threads here to get some inspiration and ideas. Be warned though, the silks are slippery slopes. :smile1:

the SAs in Taipei were brutally honest with me. she said the waitlist here is 7-8 years even though some of them are from walk-ins and may not even come and get it. she point blank told me that there is no point in waiting in taipei when i can pay for airfare + hotel to tokyo or paris and just get it there. the price you paid may not be any higher if you consider the annual price increase you will pay for a birkin that arrives heave knows how many years later.

i have since gotten birkins and hacs as walk-ins from Paris and saved a bundle while enjoying Paris in the process.

assuming SG, HKG and Taipei most likely all have similar issues with birkin waitlist, imho, there is no point on fixating on getting birkins from your local country, particularly if you have to spend A LOT up front to be bumped up the waitlist.

If you are only interested in Birkins, and not much else, then I would say it's close to impossible at the local boutiques.

From what I know, the local stores don't have enough inventory to satisfy their bunch of regulars (who do buy many other things besides the Birkin), let alone the Birkin-only crowd.

ITA  Especially not worth it if you are just buying to accumulate spending, and not because you actually want the items.

VERY SLIPPERY... especially when you hang out on tpf too much.

Note: Always open robee's thread with EXTREME CAUTION. she will even get you hooked on men's silks!

Hello everyone!

I am a relative hermes newbie based in UK but originally from sgp.

I jst read this thread and am quite intrigued about how much you have to 'invest' to get an hermes bag in sgp. I usually get bits and bobs in Taka and have asked to be waitlsted for a birkin. They've rung me up about another bag but not the one I want. The wait is pretty painful and am currently thinking of alternate methods to get hold of one.

Hanyeu, I popped by georgesV and FSH about 2-3 wks ago one tues and wed, was told they didnt have any birkins (which was obviously not true as I've seen several TPF members showing off their new birkins from abt the same time I went!). I am envious that you've managed to score a few as walk-ins! To be fair, I only popped by in-store once before sauntering off to lanvin & chanel, perhaps I should have put in more effort and gone in again in the afternoon. Have you got any tips about how to get one via a walk-in? I might try again sometime before Aug if time permits and would be happy with any advice.:smile1:

Failing which I might try to get one from Tokyo despite the higher prices.
I have seen so many beautiful birkins and kellys around. I want one too! :(

On another note, got a sweet lil pink PM garden party with matching twilly today. Love it!:love::love:
