Sorry it’s from a distance…also the display glass is VERY clean…so clean that my reflection was visible from across the ground floor over by the seating area lol…so that’s why there’s a few new bag styles in the display ;) :lol:View attachment 6144308
😘😘😘 thank you sweetie!
Have to say that PINK purse is the most eye catching new style!!!
Still our standard natural color theme, but has a mini Lindy👏

It’s sleeves shortening for a leather jacket.

Last year I had one leather jacket shortened too. At that time they quoted me an alteration price. I agreed to thinking it was the norm. While waiting for the alteration, which took over 6 weeks? I happened to read here that others were never asked to pay. I thought it was odd, so I inquired at the store and they confirmed the charge. I let it go. Then at pick up, they said they were mistaken, it was indeed complimentary.

I bought another leather jacket last month. Store informed that it’s now ready for pick up and that “this time there is a charge”.

I’m just wondering if anything has changed this year. Since many of you bought from the RTW event, if any of you have had to pay for alteration.
@miss mitzi , I’m not in Seattle but Madison Maison. I’ve bought leather garments from both Madison and FSH and have never been asked to pay for alteration. I feel that if a premier luxury brand cannot offer complimentary alteration on their seasonal RTW that they are in the wrong business. It’s also my understanding that @haute okole (BH Maison) does not pay for her alterations either.

So, I would ask the question of your SA, why does Seattle not follow the example of the two Maisons in the US or FSH. Relative to many who shop at Madison, I am not a big client; and there are seasons when I do not shop, so I believe my Madison experience is pretty normal. (In other words, complimentary alteration is not a VIP thing

ETA: in the case where a house is temporarily without a tailor, the house outsources the job and pays for the alteration. It is not the clients job to run around town to find a tailor for a brand new item that does not fit. I would never take a garment for third party tailoring and ask for reimbursement either. That is bc if the tailor messes up, the onus is still on the store to make it right.

(It’s a different matter if I choose to decline complimentary tailoring — which can take weeks- and take it to my third party. Then, even if the garment is new, im happy to pay as this is my choice)

I believe the made to measure event is next week.
I was at the store on Friday to get sized for a coat I am interested in and my SA brought me over to the M2M event going on. I'd say that the M2M "experts" (not sure what to call them haha) are really friendly and knowledgeable. I was able to get measured and try on various pieces. Glad I stopped by as they probably saved us from ordering the wrong size/style for my preferences. They have some really nice fabric samples that I got a quote on for a coat, now just need to decide if I want to pull the trigger, after the sticker shock wears off 🤣.

Oh no! I am so sorry they are charging you. BH does not charge for alterations on new items. In fact, they also will do free alterations, within reason, if you lose weight and need your clothes taken in. BH is notorious for people and their GPL-1 weightloss alterations. There are limits on how often you can have your clothes taken in, maybe one time. I actually asked my SA about this and he said absolutely that H should NOT be charging for alterations on new garments.

That makes sense!!

I can’t believe our store is like this. I’m glad I asked here and got valuable input from you and @880.

Quick question: for those of you who brought RTW recently, did the store ask you to pay for alteration?

I wish I could offer a data point for reference but neither of the jackets I recently bought needed alterations. But I would feel the same frustration if I were in your situation.
@miss mitzi I apparently didn’t remember to hit reply to you haha. Just here to add moral support!
