This thread is useful if you have no idea what the name of the scarf is, you've already zoomed into Tigre Royale as a possibility

Yes, try washing it., there have been many posts on this subject . I use a stain treatment - shout for ex - and apply to spot and gently massage in for maybe 30 seconds, then put in a woolite bath for maybe 30 seconds tops and gently swish around

Do not crush when wet, I run under cold bath tap water to wash out woolite then dry flat

Lots of people have their own recipes that work equally well

Just dont let it sit in water very long , old scarves have water soluble dyes that will bleed out given enough time

Funny how tastes change

During his life, the Dallet scarves were always done with realistic colored animals - 4th photo bottom - and plants eg beige with black spots for leopards.
Never purple or blue leopards.
The blue leopards began towards the end of his life. in 2007 they finally did the all blue Jungle Love which is about as wild (unrealistic) as the Dallet scarves go - photo 1
Finally after his death Tendresse Feline had pink animals - photo 3, and the flood gates opened for purple tygers - photo 2

Thank you for the Dallet info! I think I prefer more realistic animal colors myself (when the design is realistic), though I really like his very very blue eyes in the first pic.

One day I'll find me a big kitty gavroche.....

+1 this is pretty much what I do. On really old scarves I watch for color bleed problems. I almost had a fit the other day doing one, but it turned out alright in the end. I take mine out of the water once I've washed it out, then lay it flat on a towel, then press the water out with another towel so I don't wrinkle it. It ought to be damp then and will dry pretty quickly.

Hi. I am amazed at the knowledge shared on this thread... You guys sure know your scarves! Which is why I would like to ask for advice.
I came across this scarf - Alphabet Metiers and I believe it to be the original issue. Does anyone know what the logo or signature looked like in 1945?
The scarf has several issues so I must find a way to bring it back to life.
Thanks for any input :)

unless your scarf has the 1940s caretag, it;s going to be hard to know if yours is original issue or not. the top is original issue (supposedly), the bottom is a reissue from the 1950s

Vauzelles was the author of the GINORMOUS flower series of scarves - Fleurs de Lotus, Pivoines & Roseraie. Compare to the current batch of floral scarves eg anything by C Henry - tee-tiny flowers.

There are excellentphotos of the folded FdL on ebay now :

Not recommending scarf or seller, but great photos - WOW those petals are BIG

The large flower designs were probably because Gucci owned the floral scarf market in the 1970s with the Accornero delicate designs- eg Flora. So, Hermes did BIG flowers.

1970s flowers scarves were in restrained cws eg in the blush pink Pivoines . Pivoines and FdL were 1970s and started out in realistic colors - eg the real life Sarah Bernhardt pink peonies. But, were redone in the 1980s with brights.
Sorry, I have no photo of the Pivoines in a more aggressive cw - those peonies are 8 in across & very floral. You can google for Pivoines and see some of those cws.

Roseraie came along in the 1990s - probably mined from the archives, and done after the bulk of Vauzelles work. It not only had the big flowers but was only done in the aggressive cws of the 1990s . Lots of complementary - contrasty - color combos - green and purple , turquoise and mustard

The wood trellis on the Roseraie border kinda reduces the impact of the roses, but this is one of the more restrained cws

The other major rose scarf is Rosee - the flowers are smaller (more lifesize), there are fewer of them, and the flowers are done more accurately . Roseraie has more stylized roses, more modern ? Compare 2 cws of Rosee & Roseraie from the 1990s - brights but very different

Great information on the transition of the Hermès floral designs from the 1970 to today, marietouchet... thank you!

Is your third photograph also Roserale, or is it a different design?
