Hi!
Thanks so much for opening this up so newbies (like myself) can get a response quickly!

I fell in love with this color of the Hermes Mon Petit Cheval Mexicain, but I am not sure if it is authentic. It is listed on ebay as originating from the UK:

Item: HERMES Mon Petit Cheval Mexicain
Listing number: 400230470793
Seller: jb8506
Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/400230470793?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

I know this pattern was released in 2009, and from this blog I found these other colors, but not this specific one (which is what makes me nervous). Could it just be a re-issue?

The ebay pictures look good and the label looks good, but how do I know for sure?

Thanks so much for your help!
katherine, please re-post this in authentication where more people will chime in. I cannot find any references to this coloration and there was only one issue. Unfortunately, fakes have been spotted in this seller's lists in the last year or so.

Thanks for this cw sdsurfchick; I though it was Cosmogonie, but the way the fold at the neck worked... I kept thinking those "pilings" in "Carnval de Venise" ....

Nice cw of this scarf, although I have thought that Tzapoff (or Hermes) rather abruptly cut off the bust. Kermit Oliver's indians have a happier "ending" LOL.

Hi all. I have just been given a Hermes scarf by my mother-in-law and wanted to know a bit more about it please. It is the perfume bottle design -Qu'importe le flacon... which is the easy bit, but it's in a colour that I can't seem to find. It has a bright, cherry-red border with white/cream main background. I wondered if anyone could tell me the year etc. It was given to my mum-in-law brand new, as a gift by a very, very well-to-do aunt many years ago and has sat in the box, in its original paper, ever since. In fact it was only taken out of the box for the first time last week, as you will see by the folds in the silk! My mum-in-law has no interest in this scarf and has passed it to lucky-old me and so, as a complete novice, I'd like to know a little more about it. Thanks in advance:smile1:

Also forgot to say that I will be selling the scarf once I have correctly identified it, etc. Could anyone advise me on the best way to do this? I have an ebay selling account with 100% feedback, so would that be the best way to go? Any advice appreciated, thanks :smile1:

Hi samvjuk,

It is the policy of TPF not to get involved in authentication for selling, so please don't take that personally. Your scarf looks like the real thing, and I bet your MIL got it from Hermès? In which case it is certainly the real thing. (I don't own this scarf so cannot help), but welcome to TPF; there are a lot of wonderful threads here!!

H there. Thanks for your reply. You're right, I have no doubt that this is the real thing as my great aunt (in-law) bought this directly from Hermes and was a lady of great taste and means. I was just wondering about the history of the scarf -when was it issued, the unusual colourway, etc, since I can only find examples of this design in other colours - with a dark red border being the closest I've seen. I've never owned a Hermes scarf before and probably never will again, so before i pass it on, I would love to learn a little more about it :D

Does anyone know the name of this scarf? I saw a blogger wearing it, asked her the name of the scarf but she didn't reply at all...! TIA :smile1:
