Hi Jillian, I was happy to see your scarf! Here's a (blurry-my photographer is re-doing it) "Paris Modistel"

I read somewhere that this scarf was also issued without the last "L". Clarification anyone? TIA

Hi Jahna,
The carre is gorgeous, is that one yours? I actually read that it's one of the rarest Hermes when I was researching my pochette. If it's yours, congratulations!

Yup, mine mine mine!!! It does need a cleaning; wringing my hands about that. I have just been reading (in my halting Italian) about this scarf in the book: "Mito e Bellezza"

BTW, did you read anywhere about the "Modiste" vs "Modistel"? I read about that distinguishing feature somewhere....

The scarf originally released as Paris Modistel is similar, but lacks the border and center hat box detail, to the one with the dropped "l" which was released later.

Markova, this is curious because mine has the "l" but in every other way, the image is identical to the one in "Mito e Belazza" which is titled "Paris Modiste" (no "l") Hugo Grygkar, prima edizionne 1956.

Both have the hatbox, frame, and border. Mine is definitely a stronger cw, which makes me think that maybe the "l" came later??? Do you know the date of the second edition?

Jahna,
Hmmm... H mystery. The first edition was Paris Modistel and had no hatbox in its center. It's a possibility that the design changed first, and the "l" was dropped later.
Both are from the 50s; Paris Modiste (no "l") was issued in 1956 and again in 2006.
And they both have a border, that was my mistake.

Hi everyone, I have this pochette with no identifying marks. I have been doing research for an hour and I can't find another that looks like this one or even looks like the same designer.

Can anyone offer an opinion on who the artist might be? or I should be posting this on the authentication boards instead?

Thanks for your help!

Jillian

Hi,
Sorry for chiming in late here. I have the same old hat scarf but in different color. I sent photos to Hermes asking about it. They wanted me to send it to them so I did. They could not tell me much other than it is probably "related" to the modistel scarf by Hugo Grygkar and that it is probably issued in the 50'. They confirmed that it was an authentic Hermes though. They didn't have this scarf in their archives and wanted to buy mine but I declined. I will get the scarf back from my local Hermes store tomorrow. Mine has a black border and the hats are more in pastel colors than the one you have.

All in all, lovely and rare vintage scarf!!

Hello everyone:

I'm new here and hoping someone can help me out. Is the scarf below Hermes? I've been told it might be. My apologies for the fact that you can't see the whole thing, but hopefully the colouring will look familiar.

If it isn't Hermes, does it look familiar to anyone? Thank you kindly!
So sorry to take so long on this. No answer is coming to mind re Hermes or any other label.

Wow, that is so exciting! xxx - not appropriate.

It's not in my colours but I do love things that are rare. I would love to see a picture of yours with the black border!

Did they happen to mention if they had the same scarf but in different colours in their collection? If they need a yellow I think it would be cool to send them mine. Thanks!

Brage, very beautiful! I love the black border with the white edge; looking to acquire ANY scarf with that quality.

Has anyone figured out what the first edition was? "Modiste"? "Modistel"?

Here's a better picture of mine:

Hi!
Thanks so much for opening this up so newbies (like myself) can get a response quickly!

I fell in love with this color of the Hermes Mon Petit Cheval Mexicain, but I am not sure if it is authentic. It is listed on ebay as originating from the UK:

Item: HERMES Mon Petit Cheval Mexicain
Listing number: 400230470793
Seller: jb8506
Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/400230470793?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

I know this pattern was released in 2009, and from this blog I found these other colors, but not this specific one (which is what makes me nervous). Could it just be a re-issue?

The ebay pictures look good and the label looks good, but how do I know for sure?

Thanks so much for your help!

beautiful picture. I believe the first edition is Modistel. You can see it in the 1956 catalog which I am showing. I dont think ur colorway is the same one as in the catalog. It looks taupe on my screen.

I am very doubtful that is Hermes.

Thanks Seton, for looking it up in the catalogue (I am impressed you have that first edition!). My scarf is definitely taupe. The photographer has not given me the new (better) picture, but this scarf is very intriguing.
