I would very much like to identify this scarf as worn by Christine Lagarde - think it looks brilliant with the malachite Birkin. I have the bag and now of course need the scarf ;), as one does. Many many thanks in advance. View attachment 4980919

That would be the Carre Cube, like this one:

I hope this is the right place to ask this question, if not mods can move.
I am looking to purchase a 1957 birth year scarf for a friend. I have checked with the HSCI (I think) catalogue listing for scarfs issued in 1957. Not really enamored of any of those definitively listed (& I really dislike BdG even if it is a classic!). I like Les Biches but have noticed that sometimes it is listed as 1957 & sometimes as 1958 issue. Can anyone help? Thanks.

it is typical that dates from the 50s are cited as several years apart by various sources HSCI, Hermès Scarf guides etc

Neither levriers nor biches was in a catalog. And how do you count the catalog marked November of 1957, that included the 1958 collection ...

you need the provenance of the cited date, eg it comes from such and such a Catalog or magazine, to resolve discrepancies

birth year scarves are fraught with chronological errors if you are talking before the commonly available catalogs which started ca 1980

ask the seller the provenance of the date ...

unfortunately BDG is one the few that can be ACCURATELY dated to 1957

I take that back about BDG ... I have a Le Monde which gives a (likely erroneous) date of 1956
What are you going to believe ?? I have 2 Hermès docs with 1956 and one with 1957 ... that was just a quick perusal of printed docs published by Hermès, not sites ..

Thanks for your quick & comprehensive reply. I will ask the seller the provenance of the date. However, it sounds like ultimately I should just stop fussing about identifying exact year of scarf issue (let 1956/57/58 be close enough) since even Hermes records can be contradictory for that period, and just go for a design I really like and can find in reasonable condition. We are talking a 65ish year old textile here that will no doubt have been used & loved by a previous owner(s).

Found yet another H document with the 1956 date for BDG ... I failed to find BDG in Coleno, but I did not try too hard , it lacks an index.
FYI almost none of the Porets appear in documentation, so, I did not try to open a book there.

Silly question time.
I have poured through the Scarf Booklet thread, through the Chiffon thread, checked the HSCI Hermes Scarf Photo Catalogue, Hermesology (Seton's site), various and sundry blogs, auction sites and haven't found an answer.

When were the 140cm Mousselines with the large borders and the design in the center produced?

Often (but probably not always) they are changeant and very beautiful, but I can't find any information! I've chatted with @bunnycat about this, she feels many were produced in the late 1990's and early 2000's. Is that correct?
Thanks in advance for any assistance!

I have a kosmima like that - it seems to be ca 2000 based on tag.
kosmima has not been redone since about 2000. But ithere is a 140cm csgm which is just a blow up, and my 140cm mousse and the big blank border. They did the 140cm both ways.

my guess ...
why do a scarf like that, why not just blow up the design to fill 140? Answer - either the design was older, not already scanned/computer generated (and MAYBE they were able to make the 90 screens into 140s, which is plausible, they sacrificed old 90 screens). Or a blowup to 140 looks goofy (leaves get too big or original art is too low res to blow up) - so add giant blank border to increase size. Many possibilities…

The big blank border was done with the old style figural designs , not abstract, not geometric so likely before Barret ca 2004, everything then went modern, old school designs were phased out in favor of newer designs in 140 like Mediterranee, Soleil or older classic designs that were redone/digitized.

Hello lovely group!

I have some lovely vintage scarves and would love to know the CW and their age (if possible).

So far, this is what I could find out:
1. Hommage a Charles Garnier by Caty Latham - 1986 (are they other issues?)
2. Les Voitures a Transformation by Francoise de la Perriere - 1965
3. Ex Libris by Grygkar
4. La Grande Armee by Francoise Heron - 1976

Any help and information is appreciated.

Thank you very much!
