Ah! Yes, dirt! I was choosing between this and the dark navy (bleu noir), and went with this bleu mineral as it is more a “statement” coat, I thought…. I no longer wear make-up, so hopefully one less source of grime to worry about
Ooooh! It comes in navy? Would you mind sharing the reference number so that I can send to my SA? I’ve been looking for a navy coat and the other one that I like, the wrap coat, is a little formal for my life.

Joining this thread as I’ve bought my first H RTW piece ever today - Les Tambours pullover in red. And I would like to hear your thoughts because I’m having mixed feelings about my purchase.

On one side, I felt a bit “forced” by my SA to buy it. She had invited me to create a SO bag because, my first SO from April last year has been cancelled… and after that, she started showing me other stuff (shoes, sandals, jewelry, RTW…). It was a bit weird, honestly. I didn’t find the way to say I was not interested in buying anything today. I started feeling uncomfortable because she was suddenly very pushy.
But well, I tried this pullover on, and I loved it (my family is related to music and I play the drums), so I ended up buying it. It is gorgeous, but I felt a bit silly, because I paid a lot of money for “just” a pullover… But I guess I paid the price for being offered a SO? Anyway… hopefully I will use it a lot. What do you think? Should I return it and get a voucher? Or just forget about what I’ve spent and enjoy it?

I'm in the minority here, but since you said that you loved it, I think you should keep it. It looks great on you, and the embroidery is perfect since you are a drummer. Regarding the price, anything at Hermes has a ridiculous markup. You can say the same thing about anything - $12k for "just" a handbag, $8k for "just" a coat. A sweater is something you can use over and over again, and if you indeed love it then you should hold onto it

You posted that you loved it when you tried it on. I think it looks great. For what it’s worth, I think H pullovers are durable, and feel nice, and I wear mine a lot. But, only you can know if you will wear it, or if you are uncomfortable with wearing a pullover that is this price point.

You should not feel like this sweater was the price for being offered an SO. While, it is part of an SAs job to show you other merchandise, you shouldnt feel bullied into an Unwanted purchase. You should also feel able to say that you didn’t feel like shopping for other things today.
Thank you so much, I think you are totally right - and I don’t feel comfortable having a sweater in my wardrobe that reminds me of how weak I felt that day… I will return it and keep the voucher for whenever I really want to buy something from Hermès. I usually shop for scarves, shoes, etc, that I use with pleasure. I’m sure that I will be able to spend it in something else that I will really enjoy :)
Again thank you!

I would not keep anything that I felt "pressured" into purchasing. That is not the "joy" in shopping
especially since it is your first RTW piece.
The SO is the SO & would not think that a sweater would impact that, JMO
If you are not happy & won't enjoy wearing this sweater, return it & purchase something
else that you won't have mixed feelings about.
You’re totally right, thank you so much! No matter if I had spent 100 euros or 1800, I would feel uncomfortable keeping something in my wardrobe that I don’t use enough or that I don’t really enjoy. I will return it and keep the voucher for whenever I am really in love with something - maybe my SO bag comes by in less than one year and I can use it for that, who knows…! :P

I think it looks great on you, and I like you have a personal connection with the drums.

From your story though, it sounds like H let you down re. your April SO, so you had to go to the trouble, going in again, choosing another. Then the SA started to show you things you didn't even ask for. That was your time the SA was wasting.

One of the reasons luxury stores want their customers to go in regularly is that they are shown/see (other) things, often doubling sales. In most cases, had the store let you down they would have apologised for wasting your time (April) and felt bad for asking you back to go through the rigmarole again. Only in H, do we think our SAs are doing us a darn favour.

I don't think you were "weak" for liking or buying the sweater, but you were manipulated, and if the sweater reminds you of that, then yes, take it back. Although, if you love it don't let that experience stop you from keeping it either.

It's not an even relationship, it's not supposed to be, you are the client, you should be in-charge of what and when you purchase.

You’re right ❤️, I loved it at the boutique… but not sure I loved it enough for spending that much… I would like to use it a lot and enjoy it, and I feel that with this color, plus the embroidery, it will sleep in my closet most of the winter . I think I will return it and keep the voucher for a different RTW piece or something else that I can use more. Thank you so much for your advice and lovely words :hugs:

Thank you so much, I think I’m gonna screen shot your reply and read it every time I’m receiving a WhatsApp from my SA or visit the boutique ❤️. You’ve exactly described what happened… I had been more than one year (since April 2022) waiting for my SO, and it never arrived. The boutique didn’t apologize but I tried to find the positives about it and took this as an opportunity to refresh my thoughts and choose something different this time.
My SA was acting weird, maybe they had received instructions to be more demanding with customers and increase sales, who knows. She was like in a rush to show a lot of things, when normally she doesn’t act like that. I somehow felt something was not going well and wanted to help - then I felt stupid about spending that much in something I didn’t need or really want.

Oh well… a voucher is not the ideal, but it’s always better than a sweater sleeping in a wardrobe. So I will opt for that and have that “savings account” for whenever I find something that really makes my heart sing ;)

Here are a few items I tried on. Sample size 38, which is not my typical size, but they said sample sizing runs small.

@gi201 the silk shirt we like was not ordered by the US! They felt it was neither a blouse nor a jacket and I guess just didn’t think it would sell. I told the person that this is actually an item that I think normal people could wear! Oh well- we’ll have to ask if they got it in Paris then.

The knit “dress” is actually a top buttoned onto a separate skirt, with the midsection taken out. They did not have the matching skirt for the red top so that’s why it’s a different color bottom. You can wear the top as a crop (I won’t be doing that lol) or as a regular top with the mid section buttoned on.

The darker pieces are blue nuit, so navy, which is what my Paris SA told me.

The jacket is lightweight wool with leather lapel. It’s hip length. There was a really nice long silk version but it was not ordered by the US. (Or not being made - I can’t remember.)

The 2 tops are different. I already ordered the shorter top with my Paris SA. It has a very open back with a waist strap. Not sure how I will style this because I’m not comfortable with an open back. The other longer top with the belt also has an open back, but less open and you could wear a camisole under it without looking strange.

I don’t think you should ever feel forced to purchase something but I do think it looks cute !
