Hermes Replacement Bag Straps

Hi all! I recently purchased a Kelly 25 (yah!) and am considering to purchase a longer strap so it can sit more comfortably crossbody. I saw the Sangle strap in 105cm would work perfectly, but the price is a bit steep for a bag strap.. I am wondering is it worth it to purchase the strap from Hermes, or the straps from etsy is comparable. Thank you so much for your insights :)

I have the 105cm fabric strap from Hermes and it makes wearing my retourne Kelly so comfortable as a cross body. They are expensive, but if you can get one in a neutral color pattern, it makes it more usable. Mine is in a striped pattern of navy, rust, and white colors.(I pair it with my blue indigo kelly) I usually wear that strap with it and save the other for when I want to carry it on my shoulder. The 105cm on me is too long for regular shoulder strap. It is perfect as cross body.
Truth be told, I usually carry my Kelly by the handle, but for times that I need to carry other things, or if I feel safer in places carrying it as cross body, the long strap comes in handy. (Sorry so wordy! It is late where I live and I am getting sleepy. )
You may want to search for the alternative to Hermes strap thread. Sorry, I can't find it right now to cut and paste the link. This will be helpful in your search for the perfect strap if you choose to not get one from H.

Thank you so much for your reply! I have been looking for reviews on Hermes Sangle straps but I can't seem to find any.. It is great to know that the strap works well as cross body and that it comes in handy when needed. Thanks for letting me know about the alternative to Hermes strap thread, I'll search for it :) Have a good night and sweet dreams!

I've a Sangle strap and it is worth it as compared with other canvas straps on Etsy. There are lots that are made to resemble closely with the official one and I've bought a few only to find that the material gets softer after a few use. Then they start to curl a bit. It is comfortable to have a canvas strap for crossbody and I would advise spending the money for an official one for the long haul.

Congrats on your new score !!

Thank you so much for your insights! It is great to know that the Hermes strap is much better made than the ones from etsy. It is so tempting to get the Hermes strap

I am wondering if Hermes would be able to order a strap for you in a matching color, although it would be $. I ordered my last SO with a longer strap to wear crossbody and now I ordered an extra short strap. Worth an ask.

Thanks for the reply! Good to know that Hermes can SO a strap :) I found a Sangle strap that would be a good match for my bag (gold K25 phw) but I am a bit hesitant due to the price lol I wonder what would be the price difference between Sangle strap and SO a longer strap with Hermes? It is not much more than Sangle strap then it is definitely something to consider :D

That’s a question for your SA. If I remember correctly, the leather straps come in 75, 85, 105, and 120 sizes and have to be ordered in the same hardware and color as your bag. It might also take a while to come in (maybe not in gold though).

I don’t like the Sangle straps personally just because I find them hard to match with outfits, but that is my personal preference.

Finding an inexpensive option on Etsy or similar is certainly fun and a good starting point.
