Hi there. I've been following this thread and some other threads concerning "treatment" in Hermes stores and find them "interesting." I say this with respect. But there is a reason for Hermes prices going up, up, up. And there is a reason that certain people get more attention from the store when they are shopping -- people who maybe don't mind and are even happy to see the prices. The target customers for Hermes, who are used to talking with and shopping with people like them.
This is not a store for everyone. Maybe it would be good if everyone could afford these things or maybe not. But some stores cater to a different type of person. And there are other places on the internet I'm sure where you can find used versions of Hermes things that everyone can afford. And then maybe won't feel so uncomfortable in a store that is really not the right place.
I think Hermes raises prices to make sure that its stores are for a certain type of person. And the same reason for the maybe different treatment that someone who really truly belongs in these stores.
I can't believe the cashmere shawl is now $1075. It was $980 before the price increase.![]()
Ha -- no no I don't work for Hermes.
I just saw these threads about price increases and aloof salespersons and it made me think of something my friends and I often discuss about certain customers we sometimes see in Hermes. I don't know how to say this exactly but maybe these things are sending a message to certain types of people about other stores, or maybe buying used Hermes instead of trying to fit a square pegs into a round hole.
