Hermes Price Increase??

it will definitely go up as of today at least it is so for Europe. This was confirmed by my SA last week....scarves will be going up the most out of all the SLGs and accessories. Bags wise...price will go up, but by how much, it remains to be seen.

Pocket squares are up by 5 pounds as used to be 100 and now 105 which is a lot for a tiny bit of silk!

Don't think I'll be spending as much on Hermes products now that I've got my daughter..would rather spend my money on getting her something nice to wear etc..

Apparantly belts are going up by a considerable amount, so my SA informed me. He told me to buy one before the increase in January, unfortunately they didn't have the one I wanted.

It is confirmed in France as of today. I only know Birkin 35 Togo/Clemence are now around 6100 euros (vs Euro 5900). Increase is not so bad. Prices went up for silks a lot apparently, something like 40 euros. That's all I know.

The UK will get the double whammy as vat increased from 17.5% to 20% as well..seriously not liking UK government for that little gem..labour reduced to 15% for a year to encourage people to spend..then reverted back to 17.5% last year but Tory / lib demented decided to increase to 20%...not for a year..oh no, this is permanent so in the long run you'll pay a LOT more than the one year reduction. Utter con merchants the whole lot of them...

Speaking as a new mum who managed to get..

Pregnancy grant - stopped by this government
Child birth payment for baby isa - stopped by this government

Daughter will miss the year 7 payment into her isa as well. Thankfully in Scotland so at least her university tuition fees are free at the moment (tho no student grant like what I received when I went to uni all those yrs ago). Having said that, no doubt will have to pay that by the time she gets to uni age!

As they say..taxed from cradle to grave!

(rant over!).

UK prices including 2 1/2 % VAT

So far these are all I know

Scarves

90s from £250 NOW £260
70s from £200 NOW £210
Gavroche from £105 NOW £110

On the french website 90 scarfs went from 280€ to 292€, not that bad, but Clic H (the thin one) went from 399€ to 427€!!!! That's 28€ increase!! If my math skills haven't completely abandoned me, it's 7%.. Well, I suppose the popular items are the ones they increase the most, so that they won't get too popular, I mean, too accessible. Otherwise H would lose it's mythical aura. There's no point in overpricing, say, the etriviere belt, because it's not something someone would buy only because it's H.

So, I think the point with the price increasements is to keep the it-products unaccessible to most people, AND make the most out of those who want to put their $$$ and €€€ or £££ into HHH :lawl:

Sorry if my text doesn't make any sense, I should be sleeping already....

Pregnancy grant? Child birth payment? If someone uttered these words in the "colonies", they would be drowned in a pool of tea!

(Inside joke - you have to be American to get it)

Sorry if this is off topic!

I'm with you here jedi...I was thinking ... free university tuition ... amazing.
Back to topic: I am glad I bought all bags 3 - 4 years ago. I don't think I could buy them now.
