Hermes on Bluefly

Hi everyone, I only recently discovered bluefly, and was startled to find that it had "hermes" as one of the designers sold by the company (bluefly.com). I thought hermes was only sold in their own boutiques around the world and on its official online site? Also, how did they manage to discount the items? :confused1:

TIA!

If you check Bluefly, you will see that the bags they're offering are garden party totes and canvas totes, which don't seem to be as popular. From what I've read on TPF, a lot of those totes end up at the sales and are usually the last items left. Other accessories seem to pop up from time to time, but once again, they're not scarves or twillys or anything that's really in demand.

Hermes franchises to a few independent stores so they are free standing and can get rid of slow moving and stale merchandise in big lots to places like Bluefly. Think Neiman Marcus liquidations.

The franchise locations are limited in the sales that they can hold for Hermes, but sending the stuff to Bluefly circumvents this H corporate limitation.

Hope that helps though its an educated hunch.

That's true. Mitchell's of Westport CT and Greenwich CT both have an Hermes counter that sells a small selection of scarves and ties, occassionally a canvas bag....beautiful but nothing that makes you die on the spot with need. I ordered Hermes gloves off Bluefly this past winter and the SA at Madison Ave said they are authentic...basically Hermes has "sales" but won't admit to it lol!

I hate to see new Hermes products marketed in this way. Let's face it, part of H's allure is its exclusivity. Even though it is a small number of items, it drags the H image in the mud.

OK, maybe I'm being a little melodramatic, but it pisses me off.

For the most part that is true, but sometimes they do get primo bags. I bought a black box Constance from them at a good price. It was in perfect condition, but I really wasn't that crazy about a black Constance so I returned it. The return was very easy and the entire transaction just fine. In the more distant past, I purchased a toile TPM Garden party bag, silk/cashmere scarf and black suede platform sandals. All entirely authentic and in brand new condition. The scarf and the sandals even came in their Hermes box.

I just got an email alert from Bluefly.com
Tomorrow (at 6:30am I assume it's ET) there will be new Hermes (looks like a camel coloured Kelly or perhaps more colours) avaliable at 40% off. I don't know the details but I assume it will be gone in about 5 second. For those of you who are interested, log on at 6:30am ET

hi there,
was wondering if anyone has this scarf and how does it tie? I know its a tone on tone colourway, is the H motif obvious? thanks in advance
