Yes, in the case that the stock is coming, I still pay in advance and just get it delivered or I pick it up in the next visit. And yes, I am the one to make the good judgment call.... But, I don't think my SA is being honest with me... That's the problem I have I think...

I agree. Maybe she should have not said any kind of timeline. And of course, I will accept your suggestion and I will not do anything stupid (like talking to the SM, etc.). Sorry I was being a bit emotional! (Please see my response below for some other comments you listed.)

Thanks. But, she knows that I have been looking for this non-quota bag since September last year. I am wondering why it was so hard to tag it for me when it became available? (For all other items such as clothes, homeware items, and shoes - she is always acting "so urgent" that I have to pay virtually asap to get them even if I can just wait until the next visit.. Then, when I visited next time, the items [e.g., shoes, clothes, tableware times] I was looking for are still available. ) The behavior is somewhat conflicting between the bag versus all other items...

Plus, when I recently visited, she said she has the bags I want but with different colors. I was hesitant then. Then, I contacted her again next day that I want the other color instead of keep waiting. And she is now silent... I just don't understand why she does this to me?
Dear, you are still being emotional. It seems you are not understanding the advice people are telling you here. Just tagging it for you when it's available isn't necessarily how this work.

And the behavior is different because the two things ARE different.

And sorry to say but she may be silent now because you missed your opportunity and it sold. She didn't do anything to you. She offered you a bag and you declined it. That's it.

Yes, I agree with this! My SA, who I love, never promises me anything and I just feel like I occasionally get lucky. I was very specific earlier last year about size/leather/color and declined a bag that was just 3cm larger only to regret it and it was too late.. she told me it was given to a tourist! Eek! Anyways few months later, she was able to get same bag for me that I had regretted saying no to and I happily took it home! I think if you’re relatively new to H (like me), understanding process is so hard but just be genuine and tell your SA, you regretted decision the next time you see her and hopefully it will work out soon!

Thanks for your reply, @Daydrmer. I just want to clarify this statement.

My SA may be different from other SAs. Whenever I shop at H, she only wants me to get the best ones (i.e., the ones I really, really want) from H and enjoy them fully. For example, when I looked for a rodeo bag charm, she showed me one (well, twice) and I did not really like the colors and declined them. She said to me repeatedly that "you don't have to get it this time. When I get the colors you want, I can let you know." And sooner later, she did and I got the charm with the colors I wanted.

And even for this bag, she has repeatedly assured that I don't have to get it if the specs is not something I want. She said it is just a matter of time and I will get it.

While I understand that I was a bit impatient in my previous posts 🤣 , I wanted to correct this statement. Some SAs (like mine) are also very sensitive enough to help us truly enjoy the H items the best we can [even if we may have to wait a bit longer].

Sorry I didn't add the words "and it sold" which was the point I was trying to make. No where was I implying you should have brought the bag if you didn't like it. Just stating that your SA didnt do anything to you. She offered you something and you declined it.

Best of luck to you.

Just stating that your SA didnt do anything to you.

Please read my posts again. I was told that I would get the bag around Thanksgiving. And then, my SA changed her words that I would get it by the end of the year. And by January 2, 2024, the price has increased by 6.8%. The offer of different colors was also made after the price increase. The timeline should not be given if she is not going to promise. So, READ AGAIN!!

And, I am not the only one who got frustrated. You can find similar posts from "Space for Guys & their Hermes."

For people who wonder why SAs don't give timelines to client, see above.

Yes, we all know this. Clients, including myself, at Hermes consider timelines just "approximate" ideas. They don't take it as "hard, promised deadlines."

Also, you need to take into some cultural factors between the SAs and the clients. In most Asian countries, we go with the approximate timelines. My SA and I are of the same ethnic group, so we do play it by ear with the approximate timelines together well.

It's unfortunate that your SA gave you a timeline which she could not live up to.
Since she has told you that you will get the bag it will just be a matter of time,
think under the circumstances you should be patient & wait & take into consideration that
up until this point she sounds like she has been able to get you the "best ones", IMO that
deserves some consideration. But you are the client & if you want to explore the secondary
market, that is your call. Just think in the long run that will send your SA a negative message, JMO

If it helps I had a huge milestone birthday and spoke about getting a bag for that birthday for awhile. My SA agreed and said ok I’ll keep it in mind. I got offered a bag 6 months after that milestone birthday… nothing is set in stone at H. You just need to be patient, at the end of the day these people are just working for a company to pay their bills - they don’t owe us anything

It sounds like you like your SA. Are you sure you want to switch and start over with someone else?

Clients, including myself, at Hermes consider timelines just "approximate" ideas. They don't take it as "hard, promised deadlines."
It's good that you realize this. However, why are you then blaming your SA for "changing the timeline" then?
The SA is the one who gave me the timeline - not me - and keeps changing the words every time.

I don't think your SA is "changing the timeline" in a nefarious way to play games. I think she probably is making a guesstimate as to when the bag may arrive. And it didn't arrive when she guessed. Do you think she is waiting for the price increase for you to buy a bag that she is not making any commission on, and even if she is, would be 3%??

when I recently visited, she said she has the bags I want but with different colors.
So it's not that she doesn't want to offer you a bag. She offered you the size of the bag you wanted, but the color you wanted was not available and she offered you what was available. But you said no.

Then, I contacted her again next day that I want the other color instead of keep waiting. And she is now silent... I just don't understand why she does this to me?
Maybe she is off. SAs don't take their work phones home with them. Or maybe like @Daydrmer said, the bag sold and it is no longer available. It's been discussed many times in the forum that sometimes lack of a response means "not available." I've also learned that with H, if you don't take something when it is offered whether it is a bag, RTW, or jewelry, when you ask for it again, it is sold. Or maybe your SA is annoyed and thinking, I just offered my client a bag, and he said no so I'm not going to respond.

I am wondering why it was so hard to tag it for me when it became available?
Do you know with 100% certainty that the bag you wanted in the specs that you wanted arrived at the store? Why do you think that the bag arrived but was not offered to you? Most likely they did not receive a bag in the specs you wanted, which is why your SA offered you a different color.

in the case that the stock is coming, I still pay in advance and just get it delivered
Just FYI, they usually do not sell bags remotely and ship it. You usually have to go in to purchase the bag in person, and then they can ship it to you if you want. It's not like other items where they can send you a payment link and they will ship to you; bags are different. They can *sometimes* get approval from the regional manager to sell a bag remotely and then ship it but that can take a long time. My SA offered to sell me a bag remotely once but before I got approval, which was taking over a month, I decided I didn't want the bag anymore. (it was not a B/K bag, just a femme bag.)

I also sensed that my SA somewhat intended to offer me the Maxi Kelly in my Birthday (late February)
I also would caution you about tying a bag to any kind of milestone. I have a very healthy spend with my home store and an excellent relationship with my SA and the store director. When I told them it was my birthday coming up, they said, "happy birthday!" and THAT was it! (ok granted I had already received my quotas for the year, but it's not like I got a text that day saying "hey we got this cute other bag in!") I think when you read about people getting bags for a special milestone, it is coincidence and/or a lot of luck! The timing has to be just right. They don't really care about your milestones.

I think you are not giving your SA the benefit of the doubt and clearly you do not trust your SA at all and are taking things personally. Remember your SA offered your the bag in the size you wanted!! Unfortunately the color you wanted was not available. If your SA was truly trying to string you along, she would not have offered you anything! Madison is the biggest store in the U.S. If you want to speak to the Store Director, you can certainly do that... not sure when they are available because I think they are probably pretty busy running the biggest store in the U.S. And like @acrowcounted said, even the store director cannot make a bag appear with a finger snap, even if you spent $1 million. I think for larger bags, you are actually better off buying resale. They are actually BELOW retail!! I would consider that in your case. Good luck to you.

@Love Of My Life - Yes, and yes! I am just being emotional today (and this is not really who I am whether you believe it or not). I won't do anything and just remain kind and "patient." Thank you for your kind words.

@Bdbunny - Thanks. I did not tie a bag to any kind of milestone, including my birthday. It was my SA who brought up my birthday, and it is just happen to be this coming February. (I will not respond to other comments you listed because it will be on-going conversations and I am tired of it.)

Thank you all who participated in this discussion. Let's wrap this up. The best scenario is getting the bag soon and I could continue shopping with my SA. The worst scenario is burning all the bridges and not getting a bag. Only time will tell, and I am not worried (even though this limbo situation is not comfy for me). I appreciate all of your comments.

TLDR: if the bulk of TPFers are responding to your post with incredulity, don’t get upset with them. Reread your post, check your privilege, and make sure you are being clear.

Longer tome: I encourage folks to review their posts before they press play on this forum. I just read the whirlwind where the OP claimed to be misunderstood by fellow TPFer after TPFer. There was nothing in OPs original post that was misinterpreted or unclear and that’s what the responders responded to. Now OP meant to state different facts that may have influenced the direction of the original post s/he should have updated with an alert. Instead we went down a rabbit hole of foolishness and clogged the thread.

Back on topic: relieved to have ordered a bauble via charge send today before the price increase next week after next. I thought my SA wouldn’t be able to deliver (I’m not in person) but they are making it happen.
