Hermès New York City Stores

Just walked past this AM and got a coffee from the cute H truck outside. The store looks sensational. I passed Mr. Chavez (H US CEO) crossing the street (very exciting to see him in person). There were ppl inside the store. Ran into a friend outside and they said it's the family being given the tour. The buzz is very real and so exciting. The old location has been completely gutted. Walked past that too. It's set up for a portion of the opening party. Should be an amazing evening!

I'm so excited for this and I'm not even in NYC anymore  I'll be living vicariously through everyone, cannot wait to see more pics and hear stories, of the new store and your scores!

I hope to visit next month when I'm in town. Madison will always be special to me... it's the first Hermes store I walked into, and where I got my first H bag (Constance 18) and first Birkin from! :hbeat:

The interior is absolutely beautiful and light filled. I especially love the skylight onto the bag area with access to terrace. It’s so interesting to me how all the stores have their own unique vibe. This reads very serious and brooding to me, almost a masculine energy, if that makes sense. Whereas the recent Austin build is quirky and fun, and the (now a few years old) Honolulu is open and airy. It’ll be interesting to feel the vibe in person versus pictures, especially after the reopening hype dies down in a few months.

I completely agree. The furniture is also different from the other stores. There are a lot more round shapes and curves, which looks inviting. The choice of green as the unifying color is also very interesting. It’s the first I have seen with such a present use of green through the carpets, straw marquetry, and leather goods. I wonder if it was chosen as a nod to the green color of money since the building was originally a bank. The blue theme of Sevres was chosen as a nod to its origin as the pool of the Lutetia.

I am very excited to see it in real life when I go visit my son in November. I hope there’ll still be the limited edition scarves. Also, there appears to be a special edition HAC with the taxi-yellow handles and a detail on the right side, which I can’t distinguish.

Some of these floors/spaces look very similar in design to the Ginza flagship store...
