Does anyone own a Yak n Dye blanket? I’ve had my eye on the blue one, but I’m still a little hesitant given the price. I’d like to see and feel one at a boutique first. I’d love to hear any feedback on them.

There is one at Madison ave. . .when I next go, I will check it out. If you are nearby, it’s on the second floor, on the blanket displaycloser to the elevators than the stairs. Far right bottom.

ETA : just to update the thread: DH and I had forgotten we had ordered and paid in full for most of the St Louis oxymore glasses until 18 plus months had passed. (Mainly bc we’ve been under gut renovation since early 2021). When we remembered, the powers that be gave us an ETA of third quarter 2024. We politely complained (a lot) and now we have all of it except some wine (largest goblet for water; champagne; whisky ). The issue is we really like the oxymore line. .. But had we known how long it would take, not sure I’d want to wait.

@7th House , hope your dream home is progressing smoothly :D would love to see pics, if you are so inclined.

Hi, I have the Yak n Dye in potiron. It’s beautiful and it is soft. I got it because the color happens to coordinate with the furnishings in the room I wanted it for, but to be honest, I prefer the feel of the heavier wool/cashmere blend blankets. I also have a few of these as well and they are better priced and feel just as cozy, if not cozier. But it’s a personal preference that I like heavier blankets so you should definitely check it out in person. :flowers:

Wow, thank you so much for that feedback. I have to admit I was basing it all on the photos because I thought the blue Yak n Dye was so beautiful. But like you I do prefer heavier blankets, I have 2 weighted ones in my bedroom. Thanks again! I’ll have to check out the other options now!

I have felt them at two or three different boutiques: I think Ballagio, Monaco, and Boston.
They are very pretty and very soft.

But, as you mentioned, I don't think the added softness is quite enough to justify the price---unless I specifically just HAD TO have a Tibetan yak blanket. Just a year or two ago, you could have gotten 2 Avalon blankets for the price of one yak blanket. You can spend that extra $1200 on a couple Clic HH bracelets. :graucho:

I just got my first blanket (Les Objets du Faubourgin in Rouge) and absolutely love it. I may be totally naive, but I do plan to actually use my blanket, in addition, my pup also loves cuddling on it.

Those who have had Hermes blankets for a while - how do they "age"?

I have little fuzzies. Hadn’t gotten to the pilling point yet. But it’s quite nice.

They actually age very well. They are heavy quality and can take a beating.

One or two of my blankets I use every single day, and they still look brand new!

The rest of my blankets are 'for decoration only' in the other rooms.

Glad to hear yours age well! My dog already managed to create a little snag on the blanket. It is really super tiny and not noticeable, but as I know it's there, which annoys me lol. I guess it also depends on how a blanket is knitted, some knits I would assume would be more prone to snags vs others.

Our first Avalon blanket is in Paris again for repair of the stitching on the edges. Twice in 10 years isn’t horrible considering everyone uses them heavily. Our newer one hasn’t had issues with the stitching. They’re great blankets.

10 years sounds like a decent lifespan for a blanket! Good to know that Hermes can take care of such repairs!
