lol no for simple things like make up they would just buy what they feel was right and if they didnt feel it was right they would throw it away or give to someone else (makeup is no biggie).. you will also notice that in sephora in france too! i for one do not cover my face but i have never tried make up on my face either (but i know what is right for me and whats not).. lol i love buying makeup
bella yes you're right  but only if it were the biggie items like dresses or couture, other than that no one really wants the hassle of dressing/undressing.. (if the size is not correct you just exchange it the next day).. of course this is a little generalizing as not everyone does/feels this way, but i am talking out of my personal experiance..

Since we're on the topic (marginally) here's my question, in countries where covering is a cultural and/or religious norm, are luxury accessories like birkins for example considered "safe" in public or frowned upon and mostly in use during all female gatherings(asking for two reasons, one I was a mideast history major in college and academia never addressed these pertinent questions and two the closest I've been to Mideast is Turkey, where anything went)

^^lol yes as aminaamina said birkins, jewelry, cars, houses, and everything luxurious is on-show 24/7 .. its is considred more than safe, and it would actually be frowned upon if you do not show what you have

hi leap of faith!
wouldn't you say that's culturally-based, as opposed to religious?

^ Luxury goods and accessories are definitely safe and are all around,

actually we have a say in Islam that “god is beautiful and loves to see beauty”. I m a Muslim and I come from a very pure Arab roots, and YES I do cover my face. :p

Why do I cover my face?
Because I come from a very conservative, bedouin family, and NOT because Islam forces me to cover my face. So, YES YES it is a norm/tradition. Islam encourages covering hair and body ONLY, but not face.

nontheless, many Muslim girls who come from open-minded families/mixed-blooded/ do not cover at all and do expose their faces, bodies and hair. Thus, it differs from one Muslim to another, and from one arab to another, some do cover, and some do not. you can also see girls covering their hair but not seriously doing that. :confused1:

Now I only want to make a point here, yes we are Muslims and covered, but believe me that have not stopped us from getting pleasure from life. The majority of us wear designers clothes, we speak at least 2 languages, we go to private schools, unis, we exercise, work, study, travel, we educate ourselves with everything new etc…

So girl, you can carry your birkins all around the country and enjoy doing that, because everyone does it.

lailat: yes i was taking it from a cultural point of view, but also in our religion god likes you to show what you have (as opposed to hoarding it and pretending you are poor when you are not) and as ray of light said god likes to see beauty :smile1:

ray of light: love your nic sweety! do you cover your face when travelling?

Great, thanks for the explanation ladies ...I know customs vary from country to country (would never think of lumping everyone together) and have always wondered about that (again, sorry to hijack Costa's question but it's still somewhat Hermes Dubai related right?)
