Here are a few shots of my Wow marble silk, which just arrived. I adore this sporty design, and love the brushstroke sort of details. The surfer girl with the wave is especially enchanting. Photos taken outdoors under heavy overcast skies.

Another amazing marble silk that you wear so well! These colors simply suit you.

Along with my new Wow marble silk, my scarf mail included a second colorway of La Vallee de Crystal. I decided to throw it on and go.

I love this colorway even more than the green. Raspberry pink/purple is my sweet spot.

Yes! I agree that these colors are your sweet spot - so beautiful on and a perfect match for your lovely sweater.

Hi @Critzie - I was so excited way back in August about this cw of Vallee as the pink, purples and blues are right in my sweet spot for my coloring and my bags, plus I just love the design. i like Ugo’s work in general, and have several of his pieces - it was the only 90 I really wanted this season, and I “stalked“ this cw for months. I don’t buy any scarves just to collect, I wear them all (ok at this point it may take a lot of days to wear them all - I started with H silks in 2012 :P ).

I have lots of bright colorful scarves, as I love color and all the intricacies of color in H scarves in particular. I wear them all and often in a tie that shows much of the scarf. I personally would feel very conspicuous in muted beiges or grieges or browns or very subdued colors and patterns that are more traditional - they tend to make me look drab and washed out, and those colors and patterns don’t make me happy. My neutrals are usually high contrast black, grey and white.

But all that said, it is my comfort level that matters to me - my scarves help me feel happy and pulled together most days. It sounds like you have some doubts about your comfort in wearing this. If this bright Vallee feels like your scarf is ”shouting” if you wear it, maybe another colorway? @Ladybaga showed cw 02 in a few great ties and she and it looked lovely and a bit more subtle than cw 01. Or use it in a display if you love it. Or send it on its way. It only matters how you feel no matter the buzz here! We’ve all been swept up in a particular design or cw, and I suspect all of us have made a few mistakes over time. I don’t hesitate to return a scarf that isn’t perfect for me these days as I know I will let it sit.

HTH - I’ve found that if it’s not love at first sight when I open a scarf box, it likely needs to go back. Good luck deciding! This forum is great at enabling, but most here are great at supporting too :flowers:
Very well said. I am your opposite. I can’t handle bold color or any contrast in wardrobe pieces by my face.
This, exactly! Very well said @DrTr

I am in exactly the same mind as you, for the same reasons (though I don’t have your gorgeous bags!). Interestingly, I think our colouring is quite different, which just goes to show that sometimes strong looks can be more versatile than we might think.

I will happily participate in ”scarf community service” and post a few pics later, in case it helps anyone who is considering it. The northern light here definitely brings out some of the cooler jewel tones. I’m not sure I will convince our dear @Nomad about wearability, lol, but it’s definitely a “wow” scarf, and its how you feel about it that matters. H makes a lovely variety of designs and colours for just this reason - there’s something for everyone.
Haha. You could totally convince me! I think you said you see it as a grab and go, and a throw on ( I could totally be remembering incorrectly sorry if so). I am sure I will see many scarfies being able to wear it as such. I truly look forward to the parade. @Redbirdhermes definitely showed me below! I choke on my words with her perfect top color. Oh my! Gorgeous look and not screaming outloud at all with that top, wow. It’s perfect cohesion. Scarf is not walking in first at all. It’s why I love the thread. Opens my eyes to so many more wardrobe possibilities :ghi5: .
But reality is I don’t find it having enough cost per wear wearability on me. Not enough perfect tops to make me comfortable with the bold color. I feel like a severed detached bobble head from the rest of my body when I have a super colorful and bold scarf on my neck  lol. How is that for imagery of exactly what I feel like with something this bold on haha. I have to have the perfect top like Red to make me purchase.
But no doubt wearability on many other scarfies  .

@LKBNOLA quoting you here:
@Critzie-- so much wisdom and so many excellent points have already been articulated by our fellow scarfies but ultimately it comes down to knowing yourself, your wardrobe and lifestyle. Hermes gives us choices galore and while there is no "one size fits all" there is a right answer for each of us: follow your heart. And thank you for sharing your stunning glam photos!———

Perfectly said!!

@Critzie good luck on your choice. In your pics you def handle bold color well. Gorgeous! Wearability is certainly a personal choice as we all have seen with our comments. I sometimes feel guilty owning so many scarves I feel I can only wear with one or two of my tops. Or silks I only wear once or twice a year  due to it not feeling very wearable “on me” and not being a throw and go workhorse making it have a low cost-per-wear, which eases my spending guilt  . But love the designs so much I don’t sell them.
No doubt vallee is a gorgeous piece of unique art.

Uggggg this is my dilemma! Yes, RedBird looks very beautiful and elegant with how she styled it. I’m beginning to think this scarf would be perfect for someone else. Kind of how I might like a piece of house decor in someone else’s house, just not mine.

It reminds me of the time I bought a gold Chanel mini and never wore it because it felt too flashy and just not me and who I am today.

I don’t ever wear color or pattern, strictly neutrals and that’s why I like having some color in a scarf, but I think at this point in my life I don’t want pretty things to look at. I need it to be functional and I don’t know that La Vallee will provide what I need from it, which is a feeling of ease and effortlessness rather than conflicting thoughts on if it’s too “look at me”. I think my inner child adores the design, and colorway!! But the practical me is trying to tell myself that I won’t actually wear it and will second guess myself each time I try it on. On the other hand another part of me wonders if my lifestyle (and taste) might change again in the coming years and decades to where I might regret and think about it as the scarf that got away. By golly I’m stuck in indecision!!

Naw don’t let that bother you. You will be able to find it aftermarket if you change lifestyles later. Lots of scarfies diminish their scarves they wore for business after they retire. I have white/gray coming up in my future. So many now ;-). And I will just sell what doesn’t work and buy the colors that work better later.

Thank you, Lady. I wish I could find more sweaters in this color. This is literally the only color of clothing where I have had people stop me to say how nice it looks. That doesn't happen but once every few years. I knew once I saw some the of mod shots that this colorway would work for me. I think I can wear blue and light pink with it as well.

Congratulations-- this cw is charming and your sweater matches are perfection @scarf1!

Spectacular-- this is THE red shawl to have @StylishMD. Congratulations...

I agree with this. There are so many designs that it can be overwhelming each season-- I find myself gravitating increasingly toward a "multiples" of a few faves rather than "one of each" mentality. And three is an excellent number, right @DrTr?

Fabulous-- I love your selections and always look forward to your "haul" photos @Foxy trini! Would love mod shots even more!

So beautiful! Congratulations @Amka and what a glorious match with your double-tour!
Thank you so much @LKBNOLA 💗

I agree with every person on the planet (and universe) that these pinks and blues were created for YOU. Pure lovliness!

Dear Scarflandia of the cw07 Bleu Unicorn 🦄 purchases - did anyone else get a cancellation email from H.com US?

Regretfully, we are unable to process your purchase. The La Vallee de Cristal scarf in the Bleu/Blanc/Parme colorway is not currently in-stock and is being removed from our website.

[Update] H.com CS confirmed they don't actually have the bleu cw in stock to fulfill my order.

Thank you!

I think you touch on a very important point, being comfort level.

I know the question I’ve posed is subjective, but it is interesting reading people’s viewpoints on the matter.

I used to quite enjoy wearing bright loud colors (photos attached) and do not think it’s a matter of whether the tones suit my coloring but more that my lifestyle has changed.

I’m no longer young and out and about on the daily. Nor do I get dolled up and glam these days. I work from home and am a home body.

I also prefer to blend into the crowd rather than stand out (my how time has changed things).

I think it’s a matter of the scarf not being effortless. Some of the other designs and cws can be thrown on with a denim jacket or smart casual looks.

I suppose I am trying to consider if/when I’d wear this gorgeous scarf sounding like it would be occasional and that’s fine.

Thanks for you and everyone’s help!! I really appreciate everyone’s input.
You look lovely in your brights! But I get the staying home part! I laughed at a meme the other day ”I go out sometimes to remind me why I don’t go out” and the ever popular “it’s too peopley out there”. I’m not that bad, but the home front is very nice these days.

Yes, it’s amazing how times have changed, we’ve all been through a great deal, and we’ve all been changed and made changes I think. For me brights are effortless - and for tired looking days they help “camouflage” me. But good for you for being so thoughtful as you figure it out - I made a few really silly mistakes with scarves early in my buying, and now I know almost always exactly what works for me in cw and design. Can’t wait to hear if you keep Vallee or decide it isn’t the one. :flowers:

You look radiant in this beautiful scarf!! How nice it fits your love of sports and is so meaningful to you. I bought 3 marble twillys for bags, partly because I was absolutely blown away by the family in Japan that uses this technique for scarves. Saw a short video about them and it was fascinating. Enjoy your beauty!! And you looked radiant in Vallee and your lilac sweater too!!

In case this helps with any decisions, here's another mod shot of La Vallée de Cristal cw 01. 🦄 It was meant to be a throw on and go (or stay at home) for me also, just like several other scarfies, so super excited that that is the case!

[Edit] Forgive the stray hair - it literally was thrown on!
Gorgeous with your blue sweater!!
