I’m starting to wonder about the wearability of this cw/design. I have concerns that I like looking at it but perhaps won’t feel as comfortable wearing it bc of how vivid and bright it is. Anyone else feel this way?

Are people raging about it from a collectors perspective or from a wearable perspective or both?
Hi @Critzie - I was so excited way back in August about this cw of Vallee as the pink, purples and blues are right in my sweet spot for my coloring and my bags, plus I just love the design. i like Ugo’s work in general, and have several of his pieces - it was the only 90 I really wanted this season, and I “stalked“ this cw for months. I don’t buy any scarves just to collect, I wear them all (ok at this point it may take a lot of days to wear them all - I started with H silks in 2012 :P ).

I have lots of bright colorful scarves, as I love color and all the intricacies of color in H scarves in particular. I wear them all and often in a tie that shows much of the scarf. I personally would feel very conspicuous in muted beiges or grieges or browns or very subdued colors and patterns that are more traditional - they tend to make me look drab and washed out, and those colors and patterns don’t make me happy. My neutrals are usually high contrast black, grey and white.

But all that said, it is my comfort level that matters to me - my scarves help me feel happy and pulled together most days. It sounds like you have some doubts about your comfort in wearing this. If this bright Vallee feels like your scarf is ”shouting” if you wear it, maybe another colorway? @Ladybaga showed cw 02 in a few great ties and she and it looked lovely and a bit more subtle than cw 01. Or use it in a display if you love it. Or send it on its way. It only matters how you feel no matter the buzz here! We’ve all been swept up in a particular design or cw, and I suspect all of us have made a few mistakes over time. I don’t hesitate to return a scarf that isn’t perfect for me these days as I know I will let it sit.

HTH - I’ve found that if it’s not love at first sight when I open a scarf box, it likely needs to go back. Good luck deciding! This forum is great at enabling, but most here are great at supporting too :flowers:

Good question. (I have no read any other responses yet.) I personally don't like this CW, but my SA at Madison, who is very savvy and has been at this a long time, thinks it's gorgeous and is going to get it for herself (if allowed). She collects, but also wears (obviously, every day at work!). I bought the green one, mostly because H greens are so rare - I haven't worn it yet, though! Did these thoughts help at all, lol

You said it well, dear @Nomad - and I love your expression about Vallee as "gusto" (just brilliant:smile: . It is not an everyday scarf to wear on a supermarket run and would not work for everyone just the same. One must be comfortable to make a statement with it and probably would require appropriate "packaging" - aka hair, make up and the rest of the outfit; otherwise, it would look odd at best.

And on the same page re: tight knots - it is a KISS scarf (keep it simple).
I agree with both @Ashanti_Rose and @Nomad. Also, personally, I am old and I do not like purple, and I do not want to be that "When I am old I shall wear purple" lady, because I wear whatever the f I want and always have.

Agree with all of this! I’m planning to get this CW (fingers crossed it arrives at the boutique soon!) and it never occurred to me that the color is too vibrant to wear. But I’m like DrTr—I love color and my scarves tend to be bright and colorful, so I’m very comfortable with wearing CWs that fall on the more vibrant (even “louder”) end of the scale.

This, exactly! Very well said @DrTr

I am in exactly the same mind as you, for the same reasons (though I don’t have your gorgeous bags!). Interestingly, I think our colouring is quite different, which just goes to show that sometimes strong looks can be more versatile than we might think.

I will happily participate in ”scarf community service” and post a few pics later, in case it helps anyone who is considering it. The northern light here definitely brings out some of the cooler jewel tones. I’m not sure I will convince our dear @Nomad about wearability, lol, but it’s definitely a “wow” scarf, and its how you feel about it that matters. H makes a lovely variety of designs and colours for just this reason - there’s something for everyone.

Moma - you are not "old", just mature - like a fine wine! BTW, I don't like purple either (and normally wouldn't wear pink), but was enchanted by this CW - oddly enough:) I find that H is throwing my pre-conceived color notions out of the window more often than not:)

Thank you!

I think you touch on a very important point, being comfort level.

I know the question I’ve posed is subjective, but it is interesting reading people’s viewpoints on the matter.

I used to quite enjoy wearing bright loud colors (photos attached) and do not think it’s a matter of whether the tones suit my coloring but more that my lifestyle has changed.

I’m no longer young and out and about on the daily. Nor do I get dolled up and glam these days. I work from home and am a home body.

I also prefer to blend into the crowd rather than stand out (my how time has changed things).

I think it’s a matter of the scarf not being effortless. Some of the other designs and cws can be thrown on with a denim jacket or smart casual looks.

I suppose I am trying to consider if/when I’d wear this gorgeous scarf sounding like it would be occasional and that’s fine.

Thanks for you and everyone’s help!! I really appreciate everyone’s input.

You are so right and everything you are pointing out resonates with me. I think what we wear reflects our lifestyle. As much as I love fashion, bags and shoes, I have to remind myself when buying new clothing and accessories: "where would I actually wear it and to what occasion?" Getting older (yes! - and it is a blessing) and working on hybrid schedule also makes its adjustment - I am either working from home or commuting to the office by public transportation carrying my laptop, papers and everything else I need in the office on that day. I doubt Vallee is a good candidate for my daily office endeavors - a bit too, too much perhaps, but I look forward to wear it on my occasional outings to a theater, opera or a dinner party (having said that, it would be a good scarf to wear on a diet - I wouldn't eat anything for sure as I would be so terrified to stain it! LOL)

Don’t think anyone has shown the bleu lavande cw of Mille et un lapins. Such a fun and whimsical design.

Congratulations-- this cw is charming and your sweater matches are perfection @scarf1!
Forgive the uncoordinated shirt
Clair de la Lune in Rouge scarf mail arrived ❤️

Spectacular-- this is THE red shawl to have @StylishMD. Congratulations...
No!! I have 3 CLF, 3 Chorus Stellarum, and 3 Animapolis. When I love a scarf, I tend to buy multiples as I only buy what I truly love and never know if the next season will suit me. I would three away!!! You look great in your shawls.
I agree with this. There are so many designs that it can be overwhelming each season-- I find myself gravitating increasingly toward a "multiples" of a few faves rather than "one of each" mentality. And three is an excellent number, right @DrTr?
Yesterday’s boutique haul. These have all been modeled I believe but happy to post more mod shots if it helps someone decide between cws or just see them on someone else. @Ladybaga you swayed me on the neutral cw just so you know. Thanks for your posts!!
Fabulous-- I love your selections and always look forward to your "haul" photos @Foxy trini! Would love mod shots even more!
My online order finally arrived!
Clair de Lune shawl 140 in Vert Émeraude / Gris Chiné
I put my Kelly Double Tour bracelet in Vert Moyen (lizard) / Vert Émeraude (alligator) on it for a color comparison.

Hermes’ green colors are so beautiful that it has made me into a fan of the color green ❤️
So beautiful! Congratulations @Amka and what a glorious match with your double-tour!

Just when I think I have caught up I find I am actually like Alice, running hard to stay in the same place! I hope I have not missed anyone's new ins. The photos and commentary are sooooo helpful, everybody :flowers: and :ty:

@Critzie-- so much wisdom and so many excellent points have already been articulated by our fellow scarfies but ultimately it comes down to knowing yourself, your wardrobe and lifestyle. Hermes gives us choices galore and while there is no "one size fits all" there is a right answer for each of us: follow your heart. And thank you for sharing your stunning glam photos!
Here are a few shots of my Wow marble silk, which just arrived. I adore this sporty design, and love the brushstroke sort of details. The surfer girl with the wave is especially enchanting. Photos taken outdoors under heavy overcast skies.
