Hey everyone - I’m new here :)

I am a true to size 36 but my feet are a little wide. I felt 36 1/2 would be perfect. To my luck I ended up finding the black calfskin Chyprees I wanted online, It was a size 36 but I didn’t want to risk losing it so I just snatched it straight away. It fits very well, my toes and heels do not protrude and there’s a bit of room for movement however the velcro strap and the bottom H is tight and it rubs against my skin.

My question is - do the Chypre straps and/or sole stretch/loosen over time? Any tips to make the shoe more comfortable? I’ve been wearing it at home with thick socks to break them in.

I am halfway through pregnancy so maybe it’s tight because I’ve gained weight/water retention or maybe 36 1/2 is more suited for me lol 😅

Thanks!

Guys should I be concerned with this? It looks like a popped stitch! Omgoodness I don’t want to return because it took so long to find and get. Do any of you have a pic of your stitching inside. These are the beige mastic in leather I also got suede ones that stitching is perfect. Don’t know if there’s a difference between the 2 materials?

Something similar was on mine, not in the exact same place. I didn't care as it wasn't a popped stitch and it didnt seem to get worse with daily use. Besides, I can always show Hermes the date stamp on my photo and send it in for repair/spa.

Hi! can anyone who wears both the Birkenstock Arizona and Hermes Chypre share their respective sizes in each? I am a 39 in the Arizona, not sure if I should try and get a 39.5 or 40 in Chypre. I don't own the Hermes Oran, but when I tried them on I was a 39.5  Sizing can be so confusing! I wear shoes from 39 - 40. I'd say my true size is 39.5
I don’t have the arizonas but I do have the Birkenstock boston clogs - I wear 38 in both. It’s weird though, I normally wear 38.5 in most designer shoes, 8 in sneaker brands, and got the 38 in natural only because it was all I could get, but it fits great lengthwise - actually pretty loose on the toes. I also got the black shearling in a 37.5 and it feels the same fit as the suede version. I have very narrow feet, maybe that makes a difference.

I agree! I’m just going to wear them and enjoy 😊 because heck these things are hard to get and I’m not going to let it ruin my joy of owning them finally lol 😂 Thank you so much for your quick response.

I'm usually a 5 in shoes and I had to size down to a 4.5 in the Chypre sandals. I felt my feet were slipping out of the shoes in a size 5. Although I think it's best to try these shoes on IRL due to the style of the shoes.

I know - I just missed purchasing at the old pricing too. 😩
i see most people size up. Yeah i guess is should just try it at store. The tricky part is the colour that i want might be not available.. sigh

Oddly Chypres are perfect fit and TTS for me. I wear 35 in both Chypres and Orans. I have now a few pairs, two of which are suede and they are super comfortable for me. I wear them everyday, all day, even for flights and I walk all over Paris in them. My feet do sit exactly within the sandals. HTH!
Those who size up and size down could it be because the have narrow / wide feet? Yess i saw people been using it for traveling means its comfortable make me want to buy!!

I went half size up from my typical H shoe size
Thanks for your reply! Guess i'll try it at store since i get various feedback
I sized down half a size for the chypre style. Im normally a 39.5 but found that the 39 was a better fit and more secure as these are open toe and heel sandals.
do you size down because you have narrow feet? I think i have a normal feet lol. I have Oran in size 36 and it feels comfortable although i have to breaking in for days and it cause blister

It's possibly true.

IKR! These are so difficult to get your hands on, especially yours in ✨Beige Mastic✨. I love that colour so much, probably going to be my next colour if I do decide I want another pair. As long as you have a photo with the date stamp, it'll be fine in the future as you can just explain your situation to the store/spa. Enjoy your new chypres!!!

Ummm... for me the chypres were weird. Im a guy and my SA asked me to try on the mens chypre, but they were actually way too wide for my feet. I guess I have narrow feet compared to a "normal" guy's foot. So, my SA asked if I wanted to try women's as the only difference is the width. Turns out the width of the women's chypres worked so much better for me. Perfect fit!
