Hermès CHYPRE sandals

I wandered into Hermes thinking it was time to try on these mysterious shoes that are always sold out online, lol.

I have very narrow feet, the Orans fit me fine with sticky pads inside. They had Chypres in black, white & natural. I tried the black (full size) and they were way too wide in the front area around the H strap. Sadly they‘re not going on the wishlist

I was wondering if I am the only one who find these sandals uncomfortable, especially underneath the velcro. There is a spot underneath the velcro that pokes and rubs my skin, in which I developed a small wound just from wearing the sandals once. Will it get better in time?

When I first got the sandals I wore them for a week and I got cut up in quite a few spots and was definitely painful but honestly after that first week they became like butter! The strap no longer cuts me .. I think it’s just a break in period from what I’ve experienced (very similar to how it was for me breaking into Birkenstocks)

You can just stick a mini size bandaid over the strap where it tends to rubs your skin. Also apply a tiny bit of neosporin or cerave healing ointment on your feet before putting on the sandals will do the trick.

Wow thanks for this message. I felt relieved! Hopefully the end of breaking in period comes soon.

Thank you! I will definitely take your advice. I’m sure bandaid over the strap will be a game changer as it’s going to cover the roughness from the stitching. Did you have the same issue?

I felt the straps on the chypre and mine didn't seem to have the rough stitching in brand new condition. I did apply the cerave ointment for the first few times that I wear them out (just in case), haven't had any issue so far :amuse:

Every pair I’ve owned has this issue. I scratched at the spot with my fingernail to loosen up that threading that pokes at the top of my foot. Eventually it softens up pretty quickly and I never even feel it anymore. Could also try nail clipping it after you loosen it up with fingernail pressure

I saw a TPF’er posted about applying corn pads on the underside. I am going to try that night. I had mine conditioned mine professionally to work in the leather and thought I had broken them in on my one as well, but they are still uncomfortable. Chic (imo), but still uncomfortable for walking 15+ minutes. At least I got the right size (for me?!) .5 size up from Orans.
