Ok so please let me know if this is the wrong thread, and I will move this comment over, but I am really debating switching stores to Madison Avenue after spending about 7k at another one in the city. I like my SA, but when I walked into Madison on a whim, a new associate gave me MULTIPLE pegase options for my new Evelyne bag, including an exotic, and offered me a roulis wallet on the spot, while my current one said she didn't have any. I ended up walking out with one in the exact color I had wanted. I don't want to reset my spend, but that store is gorgeous as well, and I loved being able to see all the offerings out. My initial idea in going to another location was that Madison would have too much competition. Do you all think I would be stupid to switch? I am not super rich, so I can't spend tens of thousands like it's nothing.

is madison much further to you than your home store? Its a tough question. Bigger question, more competition but also more stock. Smaller store, not that much less competition but a lot less stock...... But I think logistics might be a bigger deal. Is it just as easy to get to madison as it is your home store? Or is the first offering just a bit of taste to entice you to continue to spend more ?

My normal one has better hours, but if I come on a weekend I honestly don't care. The other aspect is that this new person is still learning color names, but my old one has worked there for 5 years or more. He didn't seem to be playing any sort of secret game with me or anything like that, but I wonder if he will be able to get me bags. My usual store would never just offer me 3 choices in rodeo or pegase, and then a kelly coin pouch plus a roulis wallet in vert fizz lol. It was the belt wallet too!!!

It’s likely that buying the items you just bought at Madison torpedoed your original store relationship anyway so I would just move forward with only shopping at Madison with the new SA.

My SA said she does not care if I buy online or elsewhere because if something is in stock I should try to get it. I only bought a small keychain, so I don't think so. I have an appt with the usual one next week for a few things anyway.

Yes, SAs say this all the time. However, the store manager is actually the one making decisions on releasing coveted items and they don’t generally look favorably to disloyalty. For best results, stick strictly with one SA in one store.

Yep I have only bought one keychain so I want to decide this now, since I need to go one way or the other and commit. Would you go to the new store and SA, or the usual one that has less stock?

Madison is a newly refurbished store and a flagship. It will always have the best inventory and I would recommend it as the store to go to for anyone in the tristate area.

Thank you! Does anyone have any advice on a new vs old SA at a location? I thought the new one was very up front and honest, but sometimes they don't have sway at stores, so they can't advocate for you.

There are only three full-fledged stores in the city right now so assuming you have been shopping downtown.

In my experience there is nothing wrong with shopping at more than one NYC store. A large purchase (and I mean large, let's say some dishes or RTW) at Madison could upset your SA at MP or WS - however (especially with WS) these stores understand that there's far more stock uptown. Usually one would choose an SA and a store, and ask that SA to order from the other store - for instance, I saw a bracelet at WS (not fine jewelry, an exotic CDC, so ~$2K ish) that I liked. The SA there was very understanding that I would ask my SA at Madison to order it, but would also have been very happy if I purchased there and started working more with that store.

I'm a little unclear from your posts - did you buy a Pégase and a Roulis wallet or just a keychain? Either way these are not huge purchases in the H world so I certainly would not worry. I actually think this would set you up nicely if you did buy a couple items at Madison - now you have a regular SA downtown and someone to help you find things at Madison, and personally I would just enjoy shopping with both until it becomes clear where to focus. Madison will always have the most inventory, of course; it's a flagship, and they filled the warehouse up when it opened, so there's a TON of stock assigned there that's not even on the floor yet.

It's shopping, not a job interview, and it is supposed to be fun!

Thank you! I only got the keychain since I had just bought an Evelyne PM online and I'm not super wealthy (yet, haha). I made sure to ask my SA about both items but she said she didn't have any, so I bought them where I could. I don't think I have the funds to shop at both so maybe I should ask my SA about another item I want when I come in to try on shoes I want. If she's not able because of stock issues I can head to the uptown one and stick with them. The SA up there made sure to give me a number since they didn't have cards made yet (very very new). I love that store.
