I can’t tell with the whole sangle, but in the first photo I think there are cracks in the sangle along the curve near the sangle’s piping…I suppose that’s normal wear and tear but I just worry that it will break soon. Perhaps I’m worrying too much since I did a little poking around the forum’s posts and it does seem like sangles are among the first things that need to be replaced in vintage kellys.
From my screen it looks just like creasing? How old is the bag? It looks pretty new still?

This looks more like dryness to me and not structural damage, although hard to tell by a photo. I happen to have my 1980 Kelly out for conditioning atm so here's what its sangles look like. You'll see there is almost always a bit of dryness in the grain of older Box bags. This bag gets conditioned every 6-8 months, though.
FWIW I've never replaced sangles in a bag, even in my 1952 Kelly. I do have to replace straps in a 1960's Drag.

Hello friends - I saw the Herbag Messenger 39 online and really liked how the straps are attached to the sides of the bag instead of the middle part. Just wondering if anyone has seen it or tried it on and your thoughts on it - is it easier to access, too wide etc.. as compared to the original Herbag style? That’s really helpful, thanks! What a vintage beauty!

I pulled the trigger so we’ll see…hopefully I won’t have to do anything beyond conditioning

You made me realize why the bag was so stable to carry.

I tried it in store and found it to be super comfortable to carry and sturdy. The zipped portion at the bag is large: would be roomy enough for phone and wallet/card holder.

I was very tempted to get it for a work bag but I just got myself a Birkin so no bag. I also like it better aesthetically than the normal Herbag.

It is also quite wide, the strap is too short for cross-body ( I am 163cm) but lovely as a briefcase. HTH.

Thank you for sharing your test drive of the Herbag 39! I appreciate all the details that you included. I was thinking of using it as workbag too. Based on your review (and that we are about the same height), I definitely have to try it on before buying because of the non-crossbody strap and the width.

Not sure if this is the right thread, but I'm shopping for my first Kelly and I pulled the trigger on a vintage K32 retourne in black box calf! ($8k at Collector Square). However, I'm concerned about the cracking I see on the left sangle. Will this get much worse? I don't want to have to send it to the spa immediately and I would rather just wear it, but I'm nervous that if I have to open and close the bag constantly, the sangles will wear out very quickly. Would you go ahead with the sale or cancel and look for another bag? Thank you!!

This just looks like wrinkling, very common with Box Calf leather. If you decide to go through with the purchase, you should immediately send the bag to the Hermès Spa upon receiving it. While wrinkling itself is not an issue, if the wrinkles become dry, they will likely crack. Once the wrinkles crack, the bag cannot be repaired (by Hermès or otherwise). If you send the bag to the Spa upon receiving it, the Hermès craftsperson will be able to moisturise/condition the leather, which will prevent it from wrinkling further or cracking.

Wow, really good to know. Thank you!!

New member on TPF and to the world og Hermes, sorry if I am using the wrong thread!

After pulling the trigger and purchasing my first Hermes bag (a Gold Picotin 22) I asked the SA about the process of being offered a Birkin.
This was in mid June (last month). He told me that he would need to «check with Paris» regarding dates, and then got back to me after a day and asked me to come in for a wishlist apponitment. So I did, it was great, and he registred my 3 top wishes in size, color, leather and HW. And now I wait.

My question is, with no purchase history other than the Picotin and a click-bracelet - what are my chances of actually getting one?

Are you in the UK?

These past few weeks, I've heard several SAs at 3 boutiques I've visited talking about "doing inventory", including shutting down the boutique, staying late, coming in on Sundays. Does anyone know how often do they "do inventory", and is it counting, moving product out for new seasons, etc? Did they get a massive shipment so have to rearrange the boutique based on that?

VERY anecdotally, I feel like I've been seeing more BK offers on social media these two weeks, so I'm curious if there's been a bigger release of everything, including quota bags, if there was a cycle of inventory release?

It’s just an annual count to make sure everything the computer says is in the store, is actually in the store. Nothing special, beyond corporate holding intended deliveries for that week back in the warehouse, is done with regard to product levels.
