I think here’s where people will have difference in perspective. I personally don’t see it as judging me by my cover. I see it as respecting my personal space and privacy. Allowing me to browse. I don’t really like it when sales people hover over me. But that’s just me. Everyone is different.I tend to wholeheartedly agree with most of what you said, except for the bolded part.
No one should be made to feel uncomfortable or unwelcome in a store. That's the problem I have with a lot of the French brands like H, LV, or Dior (usually if you're a first-timer in a store and don't have an established SA). The elitism or elitist mentality a lot of the SA's display is just disgusting. Live by the mantras: never judge a book by it's cover & treat others as you'd want to be treated. Most of us make 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8 times their salaries...and they'll look down on people like we aren't good enough for "their brand" or their attention/time. And aside from all that, they should just have the basic human sales & hospitality courtesy of at least greeting/acknowledging you when you walk through the door---even if they have already "sized you up" or pre-judged you.
@Prokopov, you should never have to walk around lonely, while everyone stands around on their phones or chatting with each other. Does no one want to make a sale?![]()
I just bring it up so that people don’t go in assuming it’s bc the sales people are snotty or don’t think you can afford smth. But of course there are some SAs that are actually snooty too. Bottom line is “don’t be intimidated”
