I also liked the Emma Thompson S&S, but in an entirely different way---that was an American movie vs. the P&P as a British mini-series.

Love the little sister, Margaret in that movie! [And, I think it's awesome that Emma Thompson ended up dating & marrying Willoughby IRL!:graucho:]

 I didn't know that! That IS awesome! TOTALLY awesome!

Emma actually had the baby first and got married a few years later to him. What would Jane say? LOL! I agree that the movie was so much better than the TV version. My DH bought this for me!

I think that S&S is a superbly written book and actually you have to think about what she is writing much more deeply than P&P.

Up at midnight, because Henry herked, and when I went into the bathroom to clean off his crate pad, he hopped on our bed. And urinated on it. Hit everything, both sheets, the blanket and the coverlet. So I am up doing laundry. Even had to take the dang allergy cover off the mattress, and that is a BEAR to put on. But Mom has a new rule. Henry is NEVER on the bed. Never. Not even to visit while his crate pad is cleaned. This rule will ultimately change, but not until he has gone a loooong time without an accident of any sort. ‘Cus this is the second time I’ve done this (both times when DH was away, hmmmm) and it’s gettin’ old. Have a pleasant rest of the night, Peeps. P.S. I think he herked because he had a whole, intact, long pine needle in his tummy. I am glad that didn’t make it into his colon. That sucker was SHARP.

You know, I do think about this. Mores have changed so radically since her time, I cannot IMAGINE how she would react to current social conditions. It would be fascinating, but I'm afraid she would be shocked beyond endurance. Not that I would for a moment want a return to the standards of her time, especially as a woman. But it is certainly a different world, a different humanity, than the one she knew. Better go check the laundry.

Ugh! I'm so sorry to hear about the middle-of-the-night drama with HenHen!

Oh no! Poor Mindi! That Henry is lucky he's such a fine looking fella. We forgive our handsome boys quicker. Tell him his Aunt ATG is very disappointed in his behavior! As are his kitty cousins.

...although they really can't complain! Piccolo has sprinted out the door THREE times today! DH and I have had to chase her, spray her, and practically pounce on her to keep her from getting out into traffic. Her response? To try to eat the plastic covering from DH's new DVD and then she dug into the trash to yank out his cheese steak wrapper. She's showing us how upset she is about all our travels. I shudder to think about what she's going to do once I leave again tomorrow!

Thank you, Lala and ATG, for your sympathy! We love 'em, and. . . it's a felony. Well, perhaps not with a pet (though perhaps it should be). HenHen IS lucky he's such a cutie. Truly, I think he was just so excited to be on the people-bed that. . . . and he IS still a baby. I asked the dog trainer (as we watched Henry goofing around, completely unable or unwilling to focus on the lesson): "Is this dog mentally deficient?" And the trainer said, "He's a puppy. And a BOY."

Poor Henry and those stupid pine things. They are everywhere from our leyland cypress trees and very bitable and chewable. Like JuicyFruit! But Good Job Mindi. Pat on the back for laying down the law. Now, just stick to it and Henry will get it. Just like Coco finally got the bell thing for going outside.
You, Mindi, Get a Great Big :happydance: and a :smooch: from the kiddos here and the Mama o' Kiddos.

As the mother of two (possibly!) human boys, believe me, it's more the latter part of this statement that is relevant, lol!!!

Hope he's giving you a break today; you must be exhausted!

I'm looking after my parent's dog again for a month while they're off, and he's at the other end age-wise. Sunday morning, woke up to three puddles plus a wet bed. Really! Where on earth could he have stored all that liquid??!! Last time I looked he was definitely dog, not camel! DH then caught him later on mid pee sitting on the rug. Yes, SITTING! He couldn't even be bothered to stand up to do it!!! Geez, it's gonna be a really long month!!!

Mindi - after Jinjy had that awful operation last year, he had a couple of accidents on the bed (at 1am ). I couldn't really blame him, since he was on major painkillers and wearing a cone. One thing saved my sanity and bed linen. A tarp. Sold in Home Depot and under $20, a plastic tarp will change your life. No cat hair on the bedding, your bed is puke and pee proof and best of all, a tarp is disposable. It may not be environmentally friendly, but a clean bed is worth it.

Ah, ode to the tarp...
