ITA. Took dialogue directly from the book, fantastic cast, beautiful settings, really, really marvelously done.

Hiya Mindi!! I looked into buying the DVD of this version and sadly, the reviews on Amazon were not glowing because the sound quality was very poor on the DVD. Poop! I really wanted it. I have it on a VCR tape with the commercials etc. Best I can do.

Hi girls :hugs:

Just popping in to say hellooooo :flowers: I have still to catch up.

My mom visited for the weekend and we went shopping! We were just supposed to be going shopping for her as she needed a dress for an occasion she has coming up. When we went to the store, I decided to try on a Victoria Beckham dress and a Herve Leger dress. I've a few weddings in the summer so had been on the look out for one amazing dress to wear for all of them (since they'd be for different groups of friends). I had no intention of buying anything though that day - just tried them on while mom was trying on her dresses.

I ended up buying the Herve Leger!!! I have never loved a dress so much. They only had one in that style and colour (black, with cap sleeves on the shoulder rather than straps) and I just couldn't leave it behind. I had to buy it. It's the most expensive item of clothing or accessories that I've ever bought but it was so worth it - it looks amazing on! SO wasn't with me, and when I went home I wanted his opinion on what he thought. He said it was the nicest dress that he had ever seen on me!! Yay!! :yahoo: I told him the price, and I don't think he cared since he said the dress looked so good! He then said to my mom when I went out of the room "you must come up more often so that Avril might buy herself more nice dresses like that!" She told me later and I said "ha, well if you plan on coming up just for that, then wait a while because I can't afford to be buying HL dresses every week!!!" :D

So that was my weekend, a whirlwind weekend of dress shopping! My mom bought a fab Roberto Cavalli dress too so she was delighted with her purchase.

I'll get SO to take some pics of me in the dress and will post it up here when I can!

Hope everyone is doing well :hugs: :flowers: Hugs to you all!

I have the DVD and I don't find the sound quality poor. Mine was produced by the BBC Collection. Of course, I don't know if mine might be an earlier iteration than the one reviewed. Hmmmmmm. Still, a VCR of Mr. Darcy is better than no Mr. Darcy at all!

Oh!!! I will go look for that one. How long ago did you get it? I know that the version they showed on TV was missing some scenes.

CG. Pix from the spa pleez. Especially of the bathrobe:p

LaLa: Mr. Darcy/Firth...sexiest guy on the planet and IMHO, they will never top that version of P&P!

I am in complete agreement----it is a fantastic version & very faithful to the book. No other version can compete, IMHO.

I've seen it so often, I probably know every line by now.

Sooo true! Wonder if I can load it on my computer to watch on the way home. THAT would be lovely!

Lala, how are you and Jax feeling?

Oooh, that would be a lovely way to spend your return trip! :girlsigh:

Happily, Jax is doing better----he finally returned to school today. Sadly, I am still quite unwell, but that is to be expected. Since I have so many different ailments it will probably be quite some time before I am well. Thank you for asking!

GK, I DO love Persuasian! Another version truly/largely faithful to the book. And I do love the Emma Thompson/Ang Lee "Sense and Sensibility." Her screenplay (which won an Oscar, as I recall) did change the book somewhat, but the added scenes/dialogue worked to enhance and explain the characters, IMO, and the changes seemed reasonable and fitting. Superb cast, of course.

I also liked the Emma Thompson S&S, but in an entirely different way---that was an American movie vs. the P&P as a British mini-series.

Love the little sister, Margaret in that movie! [And, I think it's awesome that Emma Thompson ended up dating & marrying Willoughby IRL!:graucho:]
