Thank you, Lala. Lizzy came to live with us when she was only 5 weeks old. We'd only chosen her the week before. We'd lost our first Springer 3 months earlier, and DH was desperate for a dog. This from a man who never liked dogs at all. :-) So, in the past 27 years, we've only been without a Springer for a little over 3 months. And yes, he's already trying to convince me put in an application for a rescue.

I think your dad had the right idea, Lala. Even though it has to have been terribly painful to lose your beloved dog, he made it a day for the family to share.

It's such a painful experience. Your poor DH---I really feel for both of you. :hugs: (((((Hugs C)))))

Do you have a preference for location? I could be wrong, but I think the Sheraton might be in a pretty good location.

[Give me a few minutes & I'll try to look it up!]

Sorry B'Mom, I was thinking of a different hotel. I'm afraid I'm of no use to you, since I don't know about any of the hotels. [Although, the Carlton looks quite nice on the website.]

CG, my heart breaks for you and your DH :hugs: Isn't it so touching how guys who don't like dogs (or cats) find that one furrball that just burrows into their heart and makes them forever a dog person.

Bmom, I don't know anything about the hotels you listed, but I stayed at the Waldorf for WOW last year, and it was nice, close to the major shopping meccas (namely H and Bergdorfs!), and not as high priced as I had expected. Memorial Day, huh?

Oh woe is me  Payback's a b*tch, I'll drag you to Reinstein/Ross for a tour of their studio :D

Seriously, I'm working on it...babysitting plans fell through for the March sale, couldn't be helped but I'm utterly disappointed. I've been assured that May is a better time...

DEAL!:yahoo:

OMG OB, you should see tonight's episode with the LA/NYC buyer! Her MOP/Onyx VCA is TDF!!

I founds some great deals on AAA but don't know much about the hotels in the packages. They were The Warwick, Sheraton Hotel & Towers, Carlton, NY Barclay and St. Giles Tuscany...any sound familiar?

Good news bad news re: Barclay. I was sent over to the Barclay because the Waldorf had no rooms. And, the Barclay was every bit as nice. However, this was over 30 years ago. So it may still be great. It was a nice as the Waldorf.

Gee, I wish I could give hotel recs but the only time I'm in a hotel is for a conference or a sample sale.

My one piece of advice is to not get a hotel room near the theater district. It's impossible for cabs to get in and out and always horribly crowded/noisy.

The one time I stayed in a hotel was for Y2K testing (don't ask) and they put us up at the Benjamin. It was pretty nice there.

I know, right?:p Look, I don't come all the way across the country to mess around (though...what happens in NYC:graucho:)...

Anyone else finding Selling New York a hoot??!! I've spotted H and VCA just in tonight's episode alone!

I love it. But, if you notice, the new company this season, the agent carries Prada, not Hermes or even Chanel.
Confess to DVRing it.
Also the Housewives. The Fashion Show. Storage Wars. And other such worthwhile mindless mind-numbing junk.
And that VCA necklace was very, very pretty, as were the earrings.
