Oh BBL! Hugs to your DH

Restricter, hope you get good news soon!

Tesi, has your daughter ever asked for an ice pack when she gets shots? I know it sounds silly, but I'm one who will pass out with needles, etc too. I hold the ice pack in the opposite hand of the arm the shots are going to, that way I can focus on holding something, and then can put it on your head/chest if you're feeling faint. My last round of shots was pretty recent, so I know it still works! I totally understand how she feels though :flowers:

CK, hugs to Collin today, hope all goes well (and have you asked Magic where the scissors are? :p)

Everyone in the MW and NE, stay safe today!

Purse! :hugs:

Suzie, send some heat this way! We're chillier than normal here!

Hi Restricter. Did you leave anything behind at Manhasset? LOL!!
We are all hoping for the best for dear Winky and his Mommy.
We are fed up with FedEx. We have been waiting since Friday for a delivery of Epson inks for DH's large format printer. Friday it was "weather issues" but there weren't any. FedEx is good about delivering Saturdays, but not this time. So, yesterday, perfectly clear, nothing coming from the sky, mere threats for late at night, we wait, wait, finally at 7:45 I call to find out, WTH?? Oh, it's on the way. They will deliver until the truck is empty. So I tell him, please tell the driver not to ring the doorbell, because the dogs will go nutso. I tell him we have kids here instead of dogs. An hour goes by. All of a sudden the status changes to "Delivery Attempted, Weather Related." WHAT? So I call again and talk to Ms. Ditzo-head. She is so sorry, yeah, like I haven't heard that before. Now I am really worried about the ink, because I know they cannot be exposed to such cold temperatures for that long and also since Epson paid for fast shipping, they should be told that on paper, yeah, it looks like weather, but in the real world, not so much. Now the package has become missing from tracking. No phone call. I am pretty upset, since the package has been in town since FRIDAY.
Well, it's not like it's for me... but I am upset about it, because they are so wishy washy about it.
Uh oh, DH has disappeared from the couch.

Parenthood IS tough. Just had to administer the old hydrogen peroxide to Master Henry. He ate part of a toy--on DH's watch, may I add--which consisted of a 4 1/2 inch strand of 1/8 inch wide synthetic fabric. NOT so good for the old colon, so up it came before it had a chance to move too far along. Poor baby, he even asked to go outside to get sick, bless his little furry heart. DH was, of course, mad at me. Let's see, he "repaired" the toy, he let HenHen have it unsupervised, he saw that Henry had eaten part of it, I said "Better get it out," and I'm the bad guy. :confused1: Grrrrrrr.

Mindi, I would not give Henry toys. Just one toy. One that he can not get into trouble with. Our vet has been selling Premier toys. They are terrific. The dogs do love them. They have discs of yummy treat that is refillable. Or not. They are also buildable.

Henry just wants and needs to chew. He just really needs one thing to play with. Too many toys will just confuse him. These toys are amazing. The guys just love them. When we have company, we give them a fresh yummy disk in the toy and they are happy and busy.
He really shouldn't be exposed to toys that he can ingest. He thinks everything in the house is his. If he has one thing that is truly his own, and maybe a blanky to sleep with.

BBL, I am really very careful with the toys I choose, but Henry is remarkable in his chewing and dismembering abilities. He does have significant chewing needs (SCN), but he also gets bored quickly and I would like to be able to offer him some toy choice (STC). He will actually go to his toy box and select the item he feels like playing with. So, it's SCN + STC = ? Okay, I'm losing it. Sorry. I think you have a good point. Perhaps I won't go down to one toy, but a limited number in rotation seems like an excellent plan. And I'll check out the Premier toys, too. Thank you!

pugshoes....that is a wonderful idea! thank you. will certainly try it next time-she will hopefully outgrow her medical fears....i want grandbabies someday!

Hi BBL, of course I left things at Manhasset. Coming up to shop?

Hi Tesi!

Mindi - whoever said pets lower your blood pressure was full of it.

hello restricter....saying prayers for your little furry ones.
i enjoy so much hearing of their shopping jaunts, especially as long island was my home for many years. you can take the girl off the island but the island makes us who we are....

Hi, Tesi! I had to laugh a bit at the last comment...I have to admit that part of the reason that I waited so long to have DD was because I hate getting my blood drawn and was scared of the epidural (and scared of NOT getting an epidural :D). I'm sure my parents were wondering if they'd ever get a grandchild from me!

Mindi, HenHen never lets ya rest, does he? Glad the toy piece came up! I had the same problem with Guinness ripping up all her toys, despite the supposed durable nature of said toy on the packaging. I finally discovered the Kong tennis ball toys, although for Guinness, it's the football sized tennis ball toy :D She will eat the fuzzy green surface off which is harmless, but she can't or hasn't ever succeeded at tearing the thing apart. She never had any interest in the rubber Kong toys, but then again, I never put peanut butter inside of it. Now, after years of chewing appropriately, she's moved on to LilOB's toys, so we're back on high alert for missing or disemboweled plush toys. Yay.

Restricter, hope the ultrasound shows absolutely nothing of interest, the more boring the better!

Sending warm vibes to those suffering through more freezing temps! It got cold last night, along with a crazy wind and rain storm. I was on my balcony at 3am trying to batten down the patio furniture; i was just praying that nothing went flying over the railing, cuz I'm 10 stories up and a clay pot turns into a missile at that height

I have finally tossed my hands up and called the doc. I'm seeing someone today. I'll get sumthin' to help me out here - I've been coughing for days and my chest isn't any 'looser'. My head is still stuffy as all get out and I wheeze like a tea kettle (like I'm having asthma issues...only I'm not). Good times.

Same for me! Not the needles so much, but just the whole birthing process seemed overwhelming.

Restricter and other peeps---Any add'l thoughts on how I go after our gas company? I don't know that I really expect to win, but I want to call attention to what seems to be a fundamentally flawed process.

They have started an inverted billing structure where more you use, the more you pay on a per therm basis. While I don't necessarily agree with it, that isn't my complaint.
My complaint is that the billing periods aren't standard, with the longest period occurring during the coldest month. This causes consumers to land in the most punitive fee category, not because the rate of use has increased, but because the gas company is using a billing period that is 10%+ longer than "normal".
I've contacted the public utilities commission and a local news outlet. Other thoughts?
