Good Morning!

Collin and I are still in bed. For weeks I've been fighting some sort of bug. Thought it was gone, but the sore throat and headache are back with a vengeance. Hoping to snuggle in all weekend!

Happy New Year's eve to all! So nice of you to do meals on wheels MissM. Around here they are proposing to change meal delivery to weekly. Lots of strong opinions on that. Daily does seem better, but expensive.

Our particular clients pay on a sliding scale. They are in an independent living situation in a section 8 sort of thing. The food is kosher and expensive to begin with. The food is prepared from a kosher kitchen. My particular client pays bare minimum because of her particular dire income level. It is imperative for most of these people to have regular contact with the volunteers because otherwise they don't see anyone. It's very sad. I've lost two clients. I don't think they will go to once a week here, but who knows. The kosher part of it is pretty different. For instance, we work on most holidays (except Jewish holidays) and we are all volunteers. We have only been at it a year or so, but there are people who are 30 years volunteering. It's a few minutes out of the day, but so important.
I hope you feel better. It took me over two weeks to get over the creeping crud I had. One day, I was just BETTER!
Happy new year, ck to you and your family.

ck21, I hope you feel better, soon! Sleeping babies are a wonderful thing, enjoy those precious moments.

Mindi, I'm so sorry you had to deal with such ill-mannered relatives.

Avril, your boots are gorgeous! Love the story with the saddler. Sorry your Blackberry doesn't take good photos - I have a (heavy, bulky, amazing photos) Nikon digital SLR camera, and I find that all I am using is the iPhone - perfect for H-shots.

A-T-G, wow, I hope you recover quickly from your traumatic day...my dogs don't like to be apart, either....or rather, Boris doesn't like to be apart from Tasha. She's not as traumatized by a separation, but she's older. However, our vet (and our groomer) makes house calls, we can't get Boris into the car, and when he needed some dental work a few weeks back, the vet actually came and picked him up.

I am still full from dinner last night....we went to Bouley for DH's birthday....definitely a favorite, but apparently there is a recovery period afterward!

Porcini flan and the codfish. We ordered the chocolate frivolous for dessert, and they added a creme brûlée with a candle in it and something else (a white snowball thing?) plus the little tray of sweets. Yum yum yum, I could not even offer to drive home!

The last of the ILs all arrived home safely this morning! I didn't mean to imply that these are nasty people--They so aren't. A great bunch, truly. It was just a hard situation and I'm sure I was hypersensitive to every nuance of every comment. Anyhooo, we all had a nice Christmas, got everyone back home in one piece, and are all still speaking to one another. A success all around, I'd say!
House is just me, DH, and the small dawgs once again. Poor HenHen had a very herky holiday, so I ran him by the vet this morning. Good news is he's gained more weight (still skinny, just ganglier than ever) and everything feels, looks, and sounds good. Bad news is we still don't really know wherefore the herking. Are going to start feeding him a little more (including the dreaded canned stuff, which I know he will adore) and start Pepcid every night, and keep monitoring the little beast. He is sleeping pressed up against me now, recovering from his veterinary ordeal.

Vibes to the Winkster!

Feel better soon, ck!

CEEEEEBEEEEEEE! Electricity! WOOT! :yahoo:

Happy New Year to the Peeps!

You and me both, purse! I do sort of miss the company, but not the constancy of it, if you know what I mean. I was ready to feel off-stage again. Unobserved. To sit around in my underwear and watch bad reality tv and eat peanut butter out of the jar. Um, if I wanted to. Which of course I DON'T, because I swan about in designer clothes and eat caviar with wee silver spoons and watch PBS exclusively. Of course.

NOOOOO!! Horn or mother of pearl, puleez!:p

Morning Peeps! Hope everyone has a safe and fun NYE!

PB has a sleep-over and DH and I will be bringing in the new year with food trucks and tribute bands....not my first choice, but DH wanted to try it. Considering the shenanigans I'm up to in 2011, I'll let him have this one:graucho:...

Do what you want to do, when you want to do it and how you want to do it.:smile1::smile1:
