Canadian again , I just come back from my in store appointment. My SA knows me very well , even all staff know me. But they asked for ID, then looked in the system asked my address again to make sure it all matched.
my SA warned me about this before going to my appointment.
She said Hermes is being careful and vigilant because of what is going on in Paris. She also said that things have been troubling here in our province as well ...
no mention of no quota bags suspension but I did not ask and my SA is not a gossiper.... I pray that is not true because I will just be disappointed.

@Sourisbrune , @Hermes Zen , my heart goes out to both of you. Love and power for the fight:hugs:(and pretty treasures to cheer up your days, H or otherwise!)

As for the perps, their sob stories and aggrandizing Robin Hood complex don’t hold up in court (it didn’t at the previous H trial in June and Sept, where some defendants were going through personal hardship but still were deemed guilty). They’ll their just desserts.
Thank you so much Perja! :hugs:

They are being strict. I know people who were told no bags are being sold via curbside pick up and until lockdown is over for in store sales. I don’t know if that’s actually true.

I was told the same thing, no B/K/C will be allowed as curbside pickup and will be offered only when the store opens up again after lockdown. I don't know if the no bag rule applies to non quota bags also.

This is a fake story. Hermes will not sell any birkin kelly or constance bags to any sick relatives of rich women. Hermes only wants to see a solid purchase history of their different products lines.

It’s very well established that the Paris store will sell to anyone, regardless of purchase history. It’s also well established that these reseller networks exist in Paris and recruit walk ins to try their luck at the Paris store, paying them a modest fee for the bag acquisition if they are successful. Perhaps this event will change the company’s policies on how they sell bags in Paris going forward.

Hi everybody!

1.) I just read this whole thread and it makes soo angry and sad especially playing somebody with cancer just to get a bag!!it is just sooo disgusting to me! I know enough people who are resellers or would just pay 3x beyond the retail price just to get a B/K.

2.) This whole “playing game” thing is just getting more and more ridiculous!!!it is not good for clients like me: middle class, not want to spend that much money on a bag but sometimes still want to award myself I always wanted a Birkin35 because I love big bags! Because since I read so many stories about how people or what kind of people can get B/K, makes me very disappointed! I still have my dream of a Birkin35 but what changed my review on this “playing game thing” is actually somebody that I know! She is a SA in a high end jewelry shop (I don’t wanna mention the name here) She doesn’t earn more than me! She doesn’t own a house like me! I was able to buy a small house with my hubby of course with a loan but I am proud of us!! She is still renting BUT she has a birkin!!! Everytime when she posted a picture on FB everybody just comments on her bag!!! For her it is all about “status”. It is also what makes me sick! She knows the SAs from our H store and that’s how she got her bag! And she doesn’t need to have any buying history!

So what does “statues” mean to such people??? Living in rent but having a birkin???
I still hope that one day I will get a B35 with no bad tastes in my mind... thanks for letting me share my 2 cents

I love Hermès bags and the bags I’ve bought were not to meet a quota- they were bought because I wanted them at the time. Before I bought my first bag, I attended a new store opening party. Shamefully to some (because I got stares from people dressed from head to toe in $$$$$ designer clothes) I popped in to check out the gathering. I was fresh from my health club- workout wear/no makeup. Unbeknownst to me, one of the Vice Presidents was there for the opening. He saw me and we struck up conversations about Hermès’ history, bags and what was fashionable in Europe at that time. He personally showed me some bags, including a Kelly and a Birkin. I ended up not buying anything, but he passed on the business card of an SA he thought I’d like. I’ll never forget him telling me that I’m the client and I should pick an SA with whom I’m comfortable, and who will work their hardest for me. And he told me not to let an SA intimidate me. He liked that I came in as I was and was unapologetic about it. He said it showed confidence. I followed up with the SA who’s card I was given. That SA told me I who the man was who helped me. I looked him up, and yes, he was a VP.
I adored my SA so much we became friends. I ended up buying five bags over the years. My SA left Hermès and since then I’ve bought from SA’s who do the work. If a Birkin or Kelly is what you want, create a relationship with an SA who sees you as you are (middle-class who loves Hermès) and respects that. They are out there. Mind you, you might have to wait for the bag of your dreams, but it’s worth it.:flowers:

Even though Hermes pushes the scarcity narrative, and the pre-spend requirement (which doesn’t sit right with me), sometimes it seems B/K/Cs are actually readily available. In my imagination, the stock rooms of Hermès stores are full of B/K/C. They are just being held back for maximum impact.
Which is it, Hermès?

But then again, why does it take some people a year to receive their order just for a strap for their bag?

Also, old money folks don’t need status bags to announce their status.

Sometimes this Birkin and Kelly mania reminds me of the Dutch tulip craze of centuries ago.

Hermes bags are hand made by a single craftsman with years of training
It takes about 48 working hours for an expert craftsman to create a B, about 25 hours for a K, 12-18 hours for a C…
Then there are other bags in production as well…
Under these circumstances I’d think it’s impossible for H to have a stock room full of B/K/C just held back for scarcity..

Except, I suspect, FSH.

Yes, I am aware. But they could hire and train more craftsmen. They could up their production if they wanted. And it seems like there are many people getting bags. There are so many stories of people asking for a B/K, being told no, but bags appear quickly once the customer buys other things. Bags are also brought out for other customers, even though other customers are told there are none. It would be interesting to know how much stock a store receives.
Hermès has always been cagey about how many B/K bags they produce a year, so who really knows?

And maybe Vegas, Honolulu?
And since Hermès is all the rage in Asia, I wonder if there are Asian stores with a lot of stock and easier to obtain bags, as well.
I can’t comment as I don’t shop in Vegas or Hawaii but when I visit and request a particular quota bag, FSH is where my SAs list out the colours and hardware combinations from their phones. Which obviously means they have stock.
I heard Asia is one of the most difficult places to get bags unless a VVVIP and/or with a high spend. Thus they might have the stock but it’s hard to get offered without a relationship.
