Wow... Thanks for posting your less than stellar experiences there, and I am shocked this should happen in Vienna, where other high end stores like LV or BV have the nicest, fairest SA anyone could wish for. I have been planning to pop in and get a Victoria II bag (and nothing else - why should a customer have to buy lots of unwanted stuff to "earn" the "privilege" of buying for hard money a certain item? It's not as if the SA had even contributed a stitch to making the bag... probably doesn't even know how to hold the needle straight) but I think I'll get the bag in Brussels... and afterwards walk into the H store in Vienna and conducta little experiment there :p

I assume you are really after a bag (B or K) and not purchasing lots of other stuff. In this case i recommend trying Paris/FSH. There are lots of threads here on TPF on this subject. You may have to go in a few times, and not give up, but they always seem to produce a bag... Otherwise Salzburg (also austria) gets much better reviews than Vienna. All other stores getting a B or K is VERY hard these days, unless you have a superb relationship w an SA or SM- or unless you buy a LOT. Market has changed dramatically over past few years, all bags are gone before they even come in... Resellers took over. Its a reality.
But back to topic before the mods come in lol :D:D:D

I could not agree more.
Probably the main reason is that H absolutely NEEDS the resale market very strong, in order to keep the whole game going, in other words sell all their non-B non-K inventory.
Until they will come out with actually desirable RTW, and actually desirable everything else, they won't give up this strategy.

great book-there may be resellers who at some point in time are stuck with a bunch of tulip bulbs, I mean bags....:p. Of course we all love tulip bulbs.......

Will read this... I personally think reselling lost its meaning, the internet is flooded with bags, IG is flooded with bags... No one knows anymore which are real and which are not (recently my SM sent 2 bags to Paris for a spa just to hear back they were fakes, no one at the store detected it, such good copies).

Where are the times of CDL, NYFE, Luxwear? We all know the best is to get the bag in the boutique and carry it out in your very own two hands... But THAT reselling had some niveau, some level. Those ladies were (still are!!!) dolls, they knew and loved their bags and their clientele was least to say- nice.
THIS reselling is nothing, but sheer madness, left, right and center.

All bags are out on them streets, not resting in those air-conditioned basements, waiting to be carefully delivered to "real" customers. Quality of production, skins and craftsmanship plunged dramatically, quantities of real and fake bags sky-rocketed.

Stores have problem selling their "whole" agenda, meanwhile clients took their real business out on the open, as they dont care about (as Perlerare said) the undesirable and useless items, that cost a fortune.

More and more resellers are not only stuck with bags, but with diamond constance belt buckles, funny watches, croc CDCs and tons of other "hot" inventory- and the math suddenly does not work out. Basically resellers are destroying resellers, H is running out of time and at the end of this whole absurd chain is us- some few thousands of loyal customers, who are willing to put up with such nonsense out of some nostalgic love of these bags and idealistic memories of how it once used to be. And this is also why a store such as Vienna, with so many complaints and unhappy customers is still well around.

Lets be all honest- we still hope, we hope that somehow it will change. Or we will be off to those Delvaux' and Valextras'?? Maybe...

Sorry for being a tad OT, but i felt like letting this out. Xxx

Agree with you on all....

While the majority of resale market looks like a terrible mess as you describes it, mixing fake and real, as long as the IG picture look good,
major international auction houses have started trying to absorb the TOP segment of resale market.
First hand info : A friend of mine, after she sold a few used bags from her collection with one of those prestigious houses was specifically asked by them to get new bags for their next sales. And that's what she's been working on for the last couple of months.
Food for thoughts....

A good book on this topic is Bringing Home the Birkin by Michael *******- he flew around the world getting B's and K's for clients and resellers.

I read this book long time ago, when it first came out. Its a very entertaining reading, but not up-to-date anymore either.
The way he was doing it was still "class", despite any personal opinion I may have of him. And only a relatively small circle of women knew and bought birkins not speaking of kellys back then. Yes it was in SATC, and magazines too- but it was a certain type of a unicorn bag which "masses" did not even dare to think of acquiring. Then it became more accessible, hence more popular, and the result we see.
The thing is though, and I repeat here lies the problem imo, that H employees found this a good way to make extra money and so it goes. Resellers bribe and buy some inventory, regular clients buy what they REALLY need and many times perceive a b/k purchase as costly enough to pay anything on top aside. Hence- they have thinner chances of getting a bag, lately even getting on the lists.
And we do not even want to know of the internal battles of H employees- even in Vienna, hardly ANY old left- i heard the competition was unbereable for some, some people simply do not have the stomach nor nerves for such things.

None of this has anything to do with the topic. There are, however, several threads on the subjects raised. I do find the railing about reselling amusing and not a little puzzling, considering that those
apparently not in favour .... resell.

But as I noted there are threads for that discussion. :back2topic: please.
