To me, having a LV bag is almost a "rite of passage" into the handbag world.

Once we are over the shock of the price of a LV bag, H doesn't seem so expensive...

yes, i totally agree. especially the part about the shock of the price-tag !!!

I got an LV monogram backpack in 1998. It has traveled all over the world with me. On a trip in 2002 I looked at it and just thoght of how tough and well-made the thing is.

I actually find the LV logos kind of whimsical. The handbags are great for daily use, and I have a carry-on rolling case for air travel.

I think its a matter of exposure and interest in quality and, well, affordability.

I was LV'ed out for the last 3 years but slowly starting to like them again. Although it's still hard for me to comprehend paying so much for canvas (which is why I tend to stick to the Epi range), the monogram and damier range are extremely durable. I've seen 30 year old LV bags that looked amazing.

However, there's just no comparison if you put Hermes and Louis Vuitton bag side by side. The workmanship and the quality of the leather used by Hermes are outstanding even compared to a $3600 limited edition LV. Hence the difference in price tag.

I still like the Deauville, Keepalls, luggage line and Speedy though......
