There are a lot of Coach outlet in the states, you can't find one? I can't justisfy buying designer bags where you can find a cheap one in outlets. My wife never like DKNY, Guess, Coach which can be found in outlets.

Back to the mindset on $400 a bag. I can never understand people who would pay $3000 more on car options which is almost worthless when you sell your car used. Then when it comes to branded items, TVs, cameras which $1000-2000 can get you top items, they thought only a rich person can afford. I spent less on cars and don't mind spending more on other gadgets and branded items.

don't be pathetic that is really nothing in order to make your wife happy and to try and get a deal or bargain does nothing more than demonstrate and risk getting a fake that you don't have the desire to make her happy

Just get the real thing. There are a ton of fakes out there on the internet, and if you call a Coach store they should be able to help you find your gift. Anything else will disappoint her, believe me. When a woman wants something, she wants that item, not a substitute.

Good for you for buying the bag she wanted! And Happy Anniversary!

P.S. uhkiwi: I have a friend who is a luthier, and $1,300 isn't that much for a nice guitar. I've seen some go for $5000 and up. Some of the old steel-body ones are stunning!

Good job...dumb guy!! I know that sometimes when I buy my DH gifts, it is hard to imagine spending so much $$$ on a bottle of wine or cigar...but it is what he enjoys. Now I recommend going to Wal-Mart, buying a really crappy looking bag, and wrapping it up to give to her! Just as she is showing her dissapointment...say something like...,"Wait...I got you the wallet, too...", and go get the real deal out of the closet!! It will make it fun, and give the bag a little story to go with it!!! Happy Anniversary....I know your wife will be so...excited!!!

My husband is the king of messing with my mind:graucho: !! Every gift occasion...I never know what is going to happen. It is a good thing sometimes, as he will tell me, "I am not getting you ANYTHING", and then blow me away with something fabulous:nuts: ...but the reverse side of that is that he will say, "I'm not getting you anything", and while it is O.K. with me...I will be expecting my surprise all day:confused1: ...and it never comes!

My hubby says "Its your birthday everyday of the year" He is right. That is how I'm able to buy the bags w/out him chewing me out too much. This idea was too good to pass up. Walmart had a brown "leather" satchel for $15.00 that I picked up yesterday. Looks similar in shape to the Coach bag, but so wrong. Even I can tell it's junk and when my wife see's it, she is going to be livid. We'll see how far "it's the thought that counts" goes -- my guess is not very far.

The big day is this weekend, so Monday I'll post to let you know how it all went down. Then, I've really got to stop hanging out here before someone finds out (or worse yet, before I develop a purse fetish). :supacool:
