Ladies I got some info from a website about ear lobe repairs and here it is.....

What is Ear lobe repair?

Ear lobe repairs are performed when the ear-ring hole has become stretched or torn. The cause may be accidental or may be related to wearing excessively heavy ear-rings.

How much does Ear lobe repair Cost?
The cost of an Ear lobe repair is $300.
Medicare rebate applies.

What are the risks of Ear lobe repair?
Infection is the biggest risk with Ear lobe repair. If the stitches become infected, they may become inflamed, painful and lumpy. Under these circumstances, the stitches will need removal. To prevent infection from occurring, patients considering Ear lobe repair should do the following:
  • Defer Ear lobe repair for six weeks after any infection
  • In general leave the area alone
Who should not undergo Ear lobe repair?
The following patients are advised to avoid Ear lobe repair:
  • Patients prone to chronic infections
  • Patients prone to severe allergic reactions
  • Patients who are pregnant or breast feeding
  • Patients who have active cold sores
  • Taking cortisone
  • Taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
  • Taking anti-coagulant medication
If there is any doubt, please discuss all matters with the treating doctor.
How is Ear lobe repair performed?
Local anaesthetic is injected with a very fine needle. The damaged ear-ring holes are completely cut out. The resulting hole in the ear lobe is repaired using fine stitching on the front and the back of the ear lobe. Stitches are removed after one to two weeks.
How long will my Ear lobe repair take?
Treatments take about 30 minutes.

My cousin has referred me to a good plastic surgeon who does this procedure and will keep you updated.;)

Also, here is a free plug for this company who claim to have a solution of sorts......

earringdoctor.com (see piercemate). It sounds reasonable but have only seen the site, cant vouch for this product!

I know this thread is a few weeks old but I had this done in March -- the surgery. I ended up having it done by a dermasurgeon that my dermatologist recommended. This doc does surgery for cancer patients most of the time but does cosmetic work a couple afternoons a week. I believe a plastic surgeon would be much more expensive. It was only a few hundred dollars (can't remember exactly). After they repair it you have to wait a few months to get it pierced again. I have since had that done and my ear is as good as new. No scars or anything.

I have had the same holes in my ears since I was seven and i don't have that problem, and i have never taken mine out at night. Never. But I never wear dangly heavy earrings...I wonder what really does cause that?

Well, to be honest, mine aren't stretched either I just don't want to wear earrings anymore nor do I want open holes. I've had them pierced since I was four so I doubt they will close on their own...

Hi! I'm a pediatrician and I saw your photos. Your best option would be to have them surgically closed by a good general surgeon or an ENT surgeon. A cosmetic surgeon will be more expensive. It's a very simple procedure that can be done in a minor OR with minimal anesthesia. There is usually no scarring because they use very thin thread unless of course you are the type who is prone to developing keloids. Let it heal for about 1-2months then go to a doctor(usually a pediatrician) to have your ears re-pierced if you want to change the location of the earholes. It's a very simple procedure that we do in just a few seconds. You may use diamond or pearl studs after but I strongly suggest to take them off ALWAYS at night so the earholes won't get too big as they are now.

Good luck in your search for the perfect surgeon!
