(Help) The prints on my Iena damier ebene came off

So sorry this has happened to your bag  the corners prints of my neverfull DE started to fade too and my SA said it can happen with frequent rubbing with clothes, body or any surface. Although my neverfull has been well loved, I'm kind of rough with it especially during travels and is over 10 years old!
I've seen this happen to a lot of members on here too, I think from Speedy DE and Neverfull DE owners mostly. Starts with brown discolouration then eventually as the canvas wears off more, red starts to show through.

Thank you for the reply. I total understand it could be unavoidable if it happens on the edge of the bag. And it will be fading bit by bit like yours. But it seems like mine just happened suddenly, like suddenly came off in a whole circle shape in the area which is not rubbing to the clothes. You can see some leftover coating still attached on it.

I always babysit all of my bags. And I cannot think of any reason why it happens. I also own a speedy B DE which is older than this Iena but it does not have any issue like this and so as my DE key cles.

I am wondering if it is the issue happens to Iena because I always think that the canvas of Iena is thinner and more slouchy comparing to my speedy B DE.

I have never seen the whole area of canvas coating came off before. It is like the whole Checker Box disappeared. And now I am afraid if it will just fall off more.

How long have you had the bag? As with anything LV it is always a case by case basis. Take it into the store and see what they say. They could say that it's wear and tear, and there's nothing that they can do since they don't repair canvas. If you have a great relationship with your CA and store, they might be willing to exchange the bag for another style depending on how long you've had it. I think they stopped producing this bag a little over two years ago.

I had it around 4 years and not using it very often. Like using it one week and sit rest for a month and rotate to other bags.

I took it to the store today. And the SA said they have never seen a damier ebene peeling off in this way. They said if it is a peel off the base should be in white color and they suspect this is a color transfer like oil paint.

But I am pretty sure it is a peeling off situation. It looks like they have a very thin layer of the checker box printing on top and that fell off. I think If they have coating on top to protect the printing it should not be like this. My opinion is it is not a normal wear and tear.

I don't know... Let's see what they said and if there is anything can do. It will take 2 weeks for me to wait.... sigh

That looks almost like something (chemical?) has splashed onto it? Almost like the coating has been eaten away, it's not uniform like you'd expect with rubbing. That's awful, my only suggestion would be to take it to a specialist repairer- some places can re-paint the pattern in those areas?

I thought about this possibility as well. But I am so sure that it never had it contacting with any chemicals. I also never wipe my bag.

But like you said, I also have a feeling that the coating has been eaten, maybe the whole bag. I am wondering will it be possible that the coating will just go away by itself, or because of humidity? temperature? or just the issues of the specific year of canvas?
