that is sooo scary!!! and soooo wrong! what is the legal recourse? clearly it has to be someone who is a memeber here no? i mean can non members view all the sections of the board? i am sure there is a way to find out who the owner is. the sucky part is them saying that OUR members are buyers of that nonsence.

This is awful. This is above and beyond just copying to sell fake things. They are basically defaming your online identity. I feel your pain ladies. I had some pics of me modelling Louboutin shoes stolen from here and used to sell fakes. I'm far more conscious of what I post now.

OMG! :wtf::cursing::hysteric:

That is too much and totally unacceptable!

It reminds of the thread who asked where you buy/get your fake H bags...it sounds very fishy and double edge to me. Its waiting for someone to squeal and be proud of her fake bag!

Now, they are using PF to promote their fake items and they come out with a vengeance by using PF'ers pictures!

Things people do for money!:push:

I thought there was a way to post pictures but that it cannot be saved (I mean when you go over the picture and do save as). I read it somewhere and I can't find it now and it probably is a hassle to do, I have to go out for dinner now, if I find it again I'll let you know.

Yes - i've even seen that on eBay. I tried to save a picture once (just to take a closer look) and a note came up saying 'no right click here - copyrighted image' or something like that, so it was impossible to save the picture.

How feasible is it to do that here?:flowers:

Btw - that site is just ugh!:sad:

I really feel awful about it. I mean, it is so upsetting to those whose pictures are there. I feel sorry that I found it, I hope posting it was the right thing to do......all this upset and really nothing can be done. I feel terrible.

The site is reallly just such a huge bunch of crap, and nobody can connect those pictures with REAL people, but still...to see someone whoring out shopmoms beautifully toile kelly and all the rest of those beautiful bags is just awful.

I am so afraid this will keep people from posting pictures here on the real PF...there are already members who do not post pictures, and yet pictures are what make this forum so fantastic....

The harm in this is emotional, more than anything, I think...it is just such an outrage.

~~sigh~~~

I wonder if it would do any good to politely ask them to take them down....Obviously legal measures wont work, and yelling at them wont do anything......oh poo.

Fuming.:mad::rant::rant: I am totally speechless. Can we bombard their email address that with complaints and threat of closure? Is there anything we can do aside from finding out how to copyright protect our photos from this point onwards?

Wow. Just...wow. I am so sorry that this happened to so many lovely tPFers (and Megs' blog!). Grrrrr. :cursing:

What the heck is with China and protection of intellectual property, anyway? Do they even have ANY laws of any sort about this, or is it basically just "steal what you can, lie about what's in stuff, and hope not to get caught"? UGH UGH UGH! This sort of thing just really makes me furious, especially on top of the melamine/killer pet food/lead painted toys news headlines over the past few months.

China doesn't yet have a strong concept of intellectual property protection as in other countries. Recent news here was the discovery of a China stated owned park where they were using Disney characters which are obviously owned by Disney. Only after some public pressuring and scrutiny, they stopped using these characters. It's telling when a China stated owned park feels free to use Disney characters...

Here's a thought, a little info on international copyright:

http://www.copyright.gov/fls/fl100.html

It does seem that China participated in the Universal Copyright Convention, so there may be some recourse, though I'm guess it would involve fairly expensive legal representation.
Hmm that is very interesting information. I honestly had no idea, since so many violations of copyright & trademark seem to get shrugged off because they come from China.

OK, so how MANY attorneys do we have here? I can think of two right off the top of my head. I sure wish I were one--retired, though, so I'd have both the skills and the time to deal with this. Would it just be barking up an empty tree to even try to do anything?
