So my birthday is coming up, and I have $200 to spend and I want to get a Coach black leather bag. I honestly don't mind pre-owned in good condition and I don't mind shopping on E-Bay, after getting the bag authenticated, of course!

At first, for awhile, I was drawn to the Coach Ashley satchel. But I just don't know... the more that I look at it, the folds look kind of weird to me & I want just a little more pizzazz.

I have never actually even owned a black leather bag! Crazy right? I currently own an LV speedy 25 in damier azur, and two Coach heritage stripe purses, one in green & one in pink.

I am getting burned out of patterns on purses, so I really need just black, lol, and I want leather.

I don't buy purses often, so I need one that will last awhile.
I like either black or gold hardware. I would like a bag that could be used as either a satchel or a shoulder bag.

I am kind of drawn to the Coach Sophia right now.

I am just having a hard time choosing! Tell me which black leather Coach purses you like!

Or if you think the Coach Ashley IS great, convince me!

All i seem to own is black! I have a black leather Sophia w/ silver hw & I adore it. The black leather kristins are beautiful too. The black sophias w/ gold hw are at the outlets right now for 50% off retail.

I have 2 black leather (large) sophias - an embellished black with silver hardware and a plain black leather with gold hardware. I absolutely love these bags, they open nice and wide so you don't have to fight to get to your things, it can be carried in hand, in the crook of your arm or on your shoulder (the large Sophias fit on my shoulder with the handles). They are absolutely timeless and very classy. You can dress them up or dress them down. Sophia is pretty perfect and the black leather with gold hardware are at the outlets now for a great price. I just bought my first Coach; the large black leather Madison Sophia with gold hardware (style #15955). Here are some pictures.


The second picture has a purse organizer to give it some structure.;)

where are you going to be shopping from? outlet: they have the ashleys which i think are nice, but a lot of the outlets have black leather sophias right now which i think are nicer.

my favorite black leather bag is my gathered sophia, but that's more than $200.

if you are shopping ebay, i really love my black leather kristin satchel...super smushy leather

I agree with Nursie, get the Sophia in black from the outlet (great price right now) or if you can head to the FP store, I would vote for this bag:

I kind of had this issue awhile ago. I used to have a black leather gallery tote (shoulder bag) and it was great. I didnt love it, so I sold it. Soon after I realized I was in need of something simple/casual/dressy.. and I found my embellished sophia. Its perfect!
I can dress it up or wear it with jeans.

If I had to buy something now it would be leather sophia or a Katarina.

My favorite Coach black leather bag to this date is my Coach black leather Chelsea Emerson satchel. Love this bag to death! Short handles can be carried on shoulder or in hand, and there is a long crossbody strap. Two outside pockets, two slip pockets inside plus a zip pocket. Mine has silver hardware. Nothing crazy, very classy. I even took it on my trip to NY and carried it everywhere I went. Very comfortable, held up in the rain and fit everything I needed. Love this bag!!!
