Help I need to decide what color for the only Birkin I may ever own !

For my only bag? I’d pick gold. You pick whichever hardware you prefer. IMO gold works with either hardware so it’s personal preference.
I would chose Chai.. its an unusual color & can be worn with other colors & the color of your
hardware is up to you..

Gold is much more classic and “Hermes” to me. But if you like Chai more go for that. It’s *your* bag so you should get whatever you want!
Gold. My very first one was Gold on Gold. I still have her after many others joined.
The darker/richer gold might be the more useful colour overall.
It is a classic Hermes colour. If it is to be the only Birkin and it is from the same range of tones as chai (as opposed to a blue or green) the best choice might ultimately prove itself to be gold.

Birkin look really good in Gold IMO, great all year-round colour too.
Both colours are gorgeous and you really can’t go wrong.
If you think this might be your only Birkin (famous last words…
) then I’d personally go for Gold as the timeless classic. On the other hand, if you think you might want more than one bag at some time in the future, you will likely always be able to find Gold but Chai might not be around later.

Gold is a forever classic and looks great with both PHW and GHW. My first Birkin was Gold and I loved that bag. I still have at least five bags in Gold, and wear them all a LOT.
The only time I would say take Chai over Gold would be
1) (obviously) if you just adore Chai and think it's the most beautiful color (which I'm guessing you don't or you'd have already decided!)
2) if the contrast stitch on Gold isn't for you. It does give a more sporty look, although IMO Gold with GHW tones that down and PHW punches it up. Personally I love the freshness of the look, but not everyone does.

Another vote for gold. Classic colour, works well all year round, and goes with everything. It can go from casual to dressy too. Not too dark, but not too light to have to worry about every mark. My most used colour bag as others have said.
