Nilo verse Porosus - Can you guys please talk to me about the differences. It seems the Porosus is more $ and seems to be More matte than the nilo. Is the $ difference worth it and why?

oh, is her 44k one nilo????? that would explain it. porosus is more desirable to some.....has the dots (pores) on the scales...if you do a search there is a thread on it here somewhere.

Yes, there is a Porosus one available (the 19k over retail) and this Nilo one available (about 14k over retail). Why the 5k delta? Is the porosus worth the money difference? I am not going to pay 19k over if porosus is the way to go I will just wait and try to find thru another avenue.

this is from the "croc advice needed" thread:

Also, on a 30cm Birkin, the Nilo looks equally good. Moreover the dark colour will make the scales distinction less obvious. Honestly, sometimes one cannot really tell unless they put the Nilo & Porosus side-by-side to compare. Porosus has its own share of bigger and smaller scales. I've compared them side-by-side. On its own the bigger scale Porosus looked great. Only when compared with the other one, was the size distinction more apparent. Its like comparing a F-colour with a I-colour diamond. The colour difference, to the laymen (like me), is only more apparent when compared side-by-side

ok, well that was more about size.....but someone said recently that the ordinary person could not tell the diff. betw. por and nilo.??? so...for matte, i think nilo might be fine? but i can tell you definitely that my porosus croc kelly has me droooooling all the time, it is so shiny and luscious...i have not seen nilo in person tho.

Well. Since this conversation is happening already...
I personally think that there are a few wonky scales on the Poro bag. They would bother me (um, if I was looking to buy it. which I'm so not, since I'm relatively poor and relatively young LOL). I saw a shot of her two croc bags next to one another, and the Nilo actually looked a lot nicer in my personal opinion.

If you are seriously considering either one, I would ask her for the photos of them next to one another.

I have the photos of them side by side

I like that the poro one is MORE MATTE where the Nilo seems to still have a sheen. I think matte is more subtle than shiny croc and is a little more understated which I need since I plan to carry every day and I live in Cleveland, Ohio, home of the Fashion Don'ts.

What do you mean - relatively young?
