HELP!! Engagement Ring Decision!

I had the EXACT dilemma between the Novo and Classic RB setting when we were ring shopping. I went with the Classic RB simply because it looks bigger and in our budget. I still drool over the Novo though...would probably prefer it in a 2+ct size because of the cut.

Novo!!! I've tried both rings on and both are lovely. In my opinion, the size discrepancy is minimal. I don't think its worth it in the long run to go with a ring you're not in love with because it faces up a bit larger than a ring you've loved for years.

From your posts, it sounds to me like you would be settling. You can also have them find a cushion stone for you that has a larger spread and that will certainly help it face up a bit larger!

I had a similar decision to make. I had been obsessed with the Lucida for about two years but then when it finally came time to visit Tiffanys to try on rings and decide on a size, I saw the RBs sparkling from the other side of the room and my mind was forever changed. I couldn't be happier with the RB choice. It looks huge, is classic and timeless, and goes with pretty much any band style whatsoever. Good luck with your choice!

the novo will definitely face up smaller for the same carat weight as a round brilliant. if you think you will look down at your novo and "wished" it gave you more finger coverage, then i think you should go with the classic 6 prong. in either case, they are both quite lovely!

If you are worried about the Novo looking too small, have you considered the RB in the Ribbon setting?

I once tried on a .75 in that setting and it looked HUGE.

I initially didn't want the classic solitaire because I wanted something more "unique" but once you see them and try them on in person, you will quickly see why it is so coveted and popular. It's a damn clever setting that looks stunning on the hand.

Can't say it any better ....:D

Skphotoimages - I know exactly what you mean, I feel i'm leaning towards the RB because of size and it sparkles so much!

Whoops - Thank-you for your response...it is interesting how you read my post...that it sounds like I would be "settling" for the round...

bb10lue - When I saw your picture it is why I am so in love with the classic now!!! Your ring and wedding band is gorgeous!! The main reason why i'm confused is because I love the tiffany solitaire with the shared-setting band...wow! I feel that with the novo engagement ring and the novo band it is really matchy... Do you know what I mean?

Bentley1 - that is very true... I am sure the difference in size would be minimal ...right?

Surfergirljen - I can't believe I missed your ring it is gorgeous!! I love how it sparkles in the sun :)

I just have to figure out how to upload a photo...

Awww don't take it as discouraging you from your choice. I just would hate for you to get it just for the size. Also, cushion price per carat is normally less than a round so you may be able to find a novo closer in price than youd think.

If the diamonds of equal carats were the same size, do you think you would still like the classic solitaire? If so then definitely get the solitaire. But trying them on will give you an idea of what you like... I went from an emerald to a cushion to a round after seeing them in person on my hand so you neve know. You just sounded so much in love with the novo I didn't want you to give up on it too quick!

And I love the look of plain polished engagement rings and a shared or pave wedding band as well!
