Ladies, I need your help!! I am having a hard time deciding between the tiffany 6 prong solitaire and the tiffany novo. I love both for very different reasons and I can't make a decision for the life of me!

I have wanted the novo for a long time, I love the diamonds on the side and I think it looks so elegant and classy. My ONLY problem is that because it is a cushion cut diamond it appears smaller than say the RB will. Now, I also love the 6 prong classic mainly because I have looked at so many gorgeous ones on here. I think it is classic and timeless. I could get the same size of ring as the novo and this would probably look larger.. (Do you guys think it would?) I just don't know if I would ever get "bored" at the solitaire (?). It is just so hard because I have always wanted the novo and now i'm thinking the solitaire. I know that I can't go wrong with either as they are both beautiful rings. Right now I am split 50/50 and I don't know how to make up my mind....Can anyone help...please!!
Ps. I'm looking in the 1.5 carat range.

Hi there!
I have the 1.5 classic solitaire and LOVE IT! It is such a classic and faces up huge and gorgeous! Either are beautiful but my vote is the classic solitaire!

Just go with what makes your heart sing more and don't worry about what looks bigger/has better coverage etc. They are both STUNNING rings - seriously don't over think it! if you have loved the novo forever go for it! :)

yes the novo will look smaller, but my vote is still for the Novo. It's a little more unique. Plus I'm a sucker for cushions. I have a 1.5 ct RB (not Tiffany's) and I personally would rather have a smaller cushion because I like them better,

Thank-you so much for your help, I really appreciate it! Surfergirljen I have read some of your other posts and your ring sounds gorgeous! (I have looked for pictures, but I can't find any!) That is the problem... I am over thinking it!! I just keep thinking i'm going to be wearing this ring for the rest of my life and I want to love it forever! You just described me exactly...I am worrying...as in if I got the solitaire it would appear larger, where as the novo will not, you know what I mean? I just don't want to wear the novo for a few months/years and wish I had gotten a bigger stone.

Skphotoimages - that is really interesting, how long since you wanted a cushion even though you have a RB?

How did both of you decide on your ring? were you ever torn?

I love the novo because of the workmanship of the band and the shape and beauty of the brilliant cut cushion, but one good thing about the Tiffany solitaire is that you can pair it with any and all kinds of bands, stacked, cross-over bands, etc. so it will always look interesting. This is a tough choice! Both are sooo beautiful, you can't go wrong with either!

I'm just a romantic and somehow the perfection and timelessness of the Tiffany Classic just spoke to me! It's almost regal... it's more "plain" than others, I know halos are really in right now and they are gorgeous! I just loved the design!!

novo for me...mine is novo inspired and i love love love it. that being said, u really need to try them on. my df always wanted to get me round...it was an ongoing disagreement we had, but when i tried on the classic and the novo the same day he was like i get it. the cushion just works so much better on my hand.

Kohl thanks so much for your input, your engagement ring is absolutely gorgeous!! That is exactly it.. If I get the novo then I am most likely going to get the novo wedding band, or something similar and if I went with the solitaire I would be able to get a plain band or the shared band (I think that is what it is called) and make it dressy.
Bagaholic85- that is so interesting, my bf originally liked the classic and thought it would go well in my everyday life..maybe more "me" and now he thinks the novo is the way to go.
Surfergirljen - that is so true about the solitaire..I am at work right now but once I get home later this evening I will post a picture of the novo and I would love to hear what you ladies think .. Sometimes different rings look completely different on different hands. Thanks again for all of your input I really appreciate it! Do you think the solitaire would face up much larger than the novo in the same cart ranges?

Thank you! :hugs: I tried on both the novo and solitaire as well and I felt the solitaire faced up larger than the novo. The cushion cut takes a bit of the edges off while the six prong adds a bit of "oomph" to the overall size. But I agree that you should try on both - and let your heart decide :smile1:

I am going through exactly the same thing you are debating between the Solitaire and the Novo for my 3 year wedding anniversary ring. I went to Tiffany yesterday and tried on the 1.5 carat Novo and a 1.8 Solitaire as those were the only sizes they had and yes the novo was much smaller than the Solitaire but then again, it was only half the price as well. I hope you find your dream ring! I haven't decided as well.

Honestly I think I probably went with the RB for it's size. I'd say about a year later I started learning more and seeing more cushions (not on people, just in stores or pictures, online, ect.) I just fell in love with them. Plus the 1.5 ct RB is really too big for me. I have a simple life and tiny hands and it's just way out of place on me.
DH days he only likes rounds, but I don't think he knows any different. I mean I'd be willing to bet he's never seen a 1.5ct cushion in a beautiful setting like the Novo. Either way HE loves my ring and asked me to keep it, so I will.

If it was me, I would have taken the round brilliant but that is because i only like cushions when they are chunky looking.

However, reading your post, I say go with the cushion novo because it seems like you know that you love it and I think if you go for the round you would be settling for something. It is a very classic look and if you are bored with it now or questioning it, that means your gut instinct is telling you maybe it isn't for you. And for years you've wanted a novo and that love had never faded. Get the novo, don't worry about the size!

Have you tried them on at the same time in the size you want? If not, I encourage you to. I think you'll find that one speaks to you more than the other. I'm a size girl, so I'd go for the solitaire.
