I ordered a vintage B40 in black with GHW. When it arrived just now I was shocked to see a deep scratch/cut spanning across half of the front. It was not visible in the badly lit image and also not mentioned in the description (it said "some marks of usage, but very well maintained"). Please see the pictures...

I'm glad I took an opening/unboxing video where it is visible. Also, I bought it off a well known platform (and if their customer service doesn't provide an acceptable solution I will gladly write in this thread which one it is. But right now I still hope they will suggest something acceptable and don't want the thread to interfere with the outcome). I did not use Paypal as payment though. I guess the easiest way is getting a full refund (which they don't usually do unless not as described as would be my case). Alternatively I was wondering if this is something H spa can easily fix - but I fear with this length and depth it is rather impossible, no? I mean "fix" in the sense that it becomes hardly visible. Not as obvious like right now. I think the leather is either Clemence or Togo.

The leather is cut. Spa COULD fix it by replacing the entire panel, but it would be expensive and a long wait I’m sure. I’d return it ASAP

That looks more like a cut. I’d return it.
This is not considered well maintained! Hope they will refund

Thank you all. It confirms it's not only me that finds this unacceptable... if the cut wasn't there I'd be happily cleaning it up now. But having to pay significant spa charges defeats the purpose of finding a "bargain". It is from 1996 btw...

Let's see what the platform will answer...

100% unacceptable especially if you were not aware and it’s not clearly indicated.
This won’t be repairable, just replaceable IF the spa accepts it.

I'm so sorry that you have to deal with this! That's a cut and it kinda hurt to see this. Just return it.

You're right, thank you! Seeing all the replies confirms that I'm not overreacting... Totally agree with you @Notorious Pink, it hurts to see this CUT. In comparison to my other bags (some bought new in store, some pre-loved) this is really not a mere scratch. It makes me wonder what happened here... certainly nothing good.

Btw the seller answered that their experts will review the bag again (so I'm gonna send it back to their headquarter), which CAN result in a full refund. Alternatively they offered me credit worth around 270$. Erm no thx... if it had been 1-2K I would have considered as that might be the price of replacing the front panel... but I'm glad they answered quickly. Let's see how long this is gonna take. I assume it will result in a full refund, they just don't want to promise anything not having the bag in their hands.

I'm most sad about having to start the search again for these specs... well the hunt for a good price is also kind of fun, but I would have been happier if this bag had been "it".

I feel you. Finding out a bargain isn’t really one really bites. I hope you get a quick and fuss-free refund!
It is a bit scary, indeed. It takes a fair bit to cut into a bag like that!

Looks like the tip of a box cutter got to it. My guess would be when they received the bag, someone used a box cutter to open the box and sliced into the leather. Just a guess, but that cut came from a sharp knife otherwise the line would be more jagged

Makes sense. Would be very tragic if it happened at the seller's headquarter... on the selling photo from the owner this area is in the shadow and the picture quality not very good to begin with (see attached). So I would also not be surprised if it already happened at the owner's place. It is the only front picture (well and another one with background, but looking the same plus a bit of blur...). There I was hoping "it's just another owner with a bad phone and bad photo skills, but a good value bag". Will never buy another bag without well lit photos again. Even if I get the full refund quickly it's a waste of time and my funds are tied up when I could buy a different one. I start to see those high price purchases like stocks

Scary indeed. Doesn't feel like it's meant to be...

Ow! That hurts to look at. You should get an immediate refund....I feel sorry for the bag, but it’s not in saleable condition.
i think @cravin is likely right - someone opened a box with a box cutter, and the bag inside was improperly packaged. That’s a razor slice. Again, ouch! So sorry this happened.

Thank you! Agree about the refund, but this company isn't known for being fast... I guess by now the ones who have bought from this company know which one it is... while their initial reply came fast I have yet to wait for the return label and the information when someone will pick it up (I'm not gonna carry it to the next post office myself... if they suggest that I will use a different tone).

One interesting thing: it came in a dustbag (very old model, beige velvety surface, the model before the orange ones - should match with the date of the bag 1996). The dustbag has no cuts. So either the owner did not put it around the bag when shipping to the seller's headquarter, it's a different bag's dustbag or it did not happen at the headquarter. Maybe a pickpocket attempt gone wrong, someone trying to stab someone etc. (yeah my thoughts are now running wild...)
