You will still be charged VAT if your flight isn't leaving the EU.

By buying at the airport you will also save on duty, which is a separate tax (which is why it's called duty free).

Are you going for the black one with the guitar strap, Tagullah? It's the nicest one of the new collection IMO!

Yup, that's the one that caught my eye out of all the new stuff. I'm wondering how this one will hold its shape compared to the Alexas and what this kind of leather is like. My finger is hovering over the 'Complete Purchase' button on the Mulberry website at the moment :graucho:.

I'm a bit confused (blonde)! How much cheaper are bags in airport if you are not leaving EU, ie duty free?

I bought my Alexa at T5 Heathrow in April, RRP was £695, I paid £591 (which was base price of about £500 and the rest was the VAT due). I was flying domestically.

I can't remember but I think the display prices include VAT - I don't know if Mulberry automatically take this off too if going outside the EU, or if you have to claim it back through the VAT refund process.

Sorry ladies, but I am confused over this thread and Heathrow T5 Mulberry.:confused1:

I am flying out to Ireland in Jan so am I right in thinking that because it's still in the EU I will not benefit from buying at the Mulberry shop and will have to pay full price.

Or, is it similar to an outlet and the prices are lower to start with.:shrugs:

Help?

Tara, you will still get the 20% off, flying from the UK to Ireland.

Hope you have a fab time when you get here - our snow has suddenly vanished so everthing is nice & green again!

Thanks Indiana, we are going to visit the Whisky Distillery in Cork and I am under strict instructions from DH to make sure I come back with some for him. Even though his whisky cupboard if overflowing?

I am waiting for two bags from the Mulberry sale to arrive so depending how I find them I may also have to have a look at Heathrow. Not sure if I will be in T5 though but may have to have a trip to it if not as I will have plenty of time hopefully.

I would definitely make a trip to it Tara if you are not flying from there and wanting a current bag. When I was planning a Mitzy purchase about a year ago, the big Oak Mitzy was £495 in the Mulberry shops, but only £430 at the T5 shop. I was on a domestic flight to Manchester, and was told that would be the price I would pay.
