Ew I think I just got cyber-stalked. Or hit on. Or something creepy. Am burying this here because like a trusting fool, I had my tPF name on my Bonanza profile. Thinking, you know, only gals who looked at bags would look at my profile.

Another Bon seller--a guy, I think, in the Midwest, who sells mainly DVDs of 80s movies as far as I can tell--just emailed me that my booth was great (which means he looked at all my old items since I only have one item for sale), that he appreciated me including personal details in my profile, that I sounded interesting and had great taste, and that he was sorry I didn't have "local shopping" as an option.

I mean, it was nicely worded, but included a winky face after the comment "nice nails". Am I wrong to be creeped out? And do I respond at all??

ETA He also said he appreciated the modeling shots. (Right before the nails comment). I don't have any modeling shots in any of my listings. I'm holding the bags in a few so my hands are visible (showing a zipper or whatever). Ack! I feel like I've attracted a hand fetishist or something. And yes, I've edited my profile to get rid of specifics, but damage done I guess. Lu, you said you had a few strange folk who would hang out on your blog... Any advice? I don't know whether to reply politely or just ignore it.

Oh and there are some lovely Red (Tango or Ruby can't tell) and Goldrush items for good prices on the Bon... Wallets, Conrad, and Lorca. And a Plum Lily she hasn't put pics up for yet.

EWWW! That's definitely creepy. Sounds like a nail fetishist who trolls places that women with certain fashion interests would hang out. I used to hang out in alt.fashion back in the 90s and I used to get creepy messages from some weirdo everytime I posted what perfume I wore. They're definitely out there. I would just ignore it really.

Oh thanks, SF!! I usually trust my "crazy radar" but it's good to hear that does sound creepy. I'll ignore it; good advice. If he is some weirdo, he's spamming and will pounce on whoever replies. I've also contacted Bonanza CS, describing it without naming him... If they deal with enough of these things they can ask me for his name to keep a paper trail.

Someone was into perfume?! Have you read that novel by Patrick Suskind?:weird:

Definitely creepy. But I think you're doing exactly the right thing by not responding and documenting it with Bon.
I also think you're right that he's just trolling and best thing to do is not engage.
Yucky shivers...

Thanks ND and Sally! :hugs:
Maybe the guy's just a gender-bender and really digs Elevation Polish Xixa!
Shaking it off lol

Those Ruby and Goldrush items are gorgy!

That must be it! And who could blame him?

Someone must be lemming a tango Conrad, no? Connie is too small for me, but I'd love one about 2x the size.

Funny, when you first mentioned missing your plum Lorca, I thought of the Lilly as a possible alternative. No pics yet...is this the one with the gorgeous metallic sheen? I love that colour. Makes me think of cherry blossoms (and Chinese candy, for some reason).

Bri is... I haven't messaged her yet, but she's usually a better shopper than all of us combined so my guess is that she's seen it. I'm with you about the Conrad's size... It's maybe a third too small for me. But I still want one :p

I never really loved the Lily/Newmans and I'm not sure why. That color IS stunning..l think they were just a little conservative in style for me. The turn locks are sort of prim and the shapes more squared off than the more boho chic of the Lorca and Havana. But maybe the color balances it?

ETA I just PMed Bri about the Conrad. Sweet deal, and it's in great shape!

Ack! Bonanza just told me they suspended the member! I hope that means they actually read the email and agreed that it was inappropriate or that he'd been a problem before. I mean, I feel like I was accurate in summarizing what he said, but now I feel guilty. AND I worry that he wrote down my tPF name or finds me on eBay (my user IDs are similar) and retaliates. Ugh.

It's not surprising they took that action. They don't want legitimate users being harassed or it will drive them away. My feeling is that this person won't retaliate. I think he was looking for an easy thrill but likely isn't going to work too hard to track you down on other sites. He'll probably just move on to another site, or keep trolling this one but won't be able to make contact.

Ugh, I wish this action on the part of Bon made you feel safer rather than adding to your worries. You have absolutely no reason to feel guilty. But I do understand why you're still uneasy. Let's just hope he's too lazy to do anything further.

Ah Perfume! Man we had copies of that book everywhere when I was workign at a bookstore. good book but yeah creepy.

Both the Conrad and wallet are Ruby I think. I do love mr Conrad in bright colors. He holds more than you would think but I so wish the pockets held a smart phone. The strap is super comfy and adjustable but he does feel like he runs a little heavy.

I wouldn't mind an old black one cheap or a grey one. There is a black one on the bay for $200.
