i have to tell ya, i am so happy i am not at Soldier Field right now... no way no how... 45 mph steady winds gusting to 58, and the lake effect snows have really kicked in .... yowza. but its no where near what Minnesota has gone thru the last 24 hours.... we didnt get nearly the amount of snows.... so glad I am toasty warm with critters all around me... i have friends that keep posting pics on FB and its just a mess... stay warm hotties...

here's to some online shopping fun :-)

 Me too!
We just put up the new (sale) tent... the quality isn't like our packable 2-man one, of course, and it's not *quite* as big as I'd imagined, but there's definitely more room, enough for our pads/bags and a backpack each. I can kneel pretty easily; I can see getting a couple of collapsing low-slung chairs to set up inside in case of rainy days. Best thing, oddly, is that it's way more ventilated than our little one. Not so great in cold weather, but when we're camping in the desert, it's always too hot inside the little one to take naps :p This one is VERY nap-friendly. That's what finally impressed DH. But yeah, it's prob'ly close to 50 right now. Pretty nice!

My zebra stair runner was installed yesterday! This is one of the items I argued with I*ROD for, I'm so glad my persistence paid off! I love it!

My mother and I are in agony... I have never worked so hard in my life. My body was literally giving out on me.. I know I shouldn't have done MOST of what I did, but if we didn't, no one else was going to do it. (she was yelling at me all weekend to stop but I didn't listen.. :p)I can't believe how much we got done in 3 days!!

FABOOOOSH! I*rod-ina is going to look adorable decked out in pink posing on those steps!!! :yahoo:

Not so happy to hear about the body crushing pain though... TRY to get some rest, my friend, even when it goes against your very grain! :hugs:

ETA - well, lookee here who's getting comfy on the couch in the new digs!! :smile1:

cho, I never would have thought of a zebra stair runner but it's the perfect choice! Love it! But please get some rest!

Whoa! I'm the first to be surprised at a dog finding the best seat in the house :lolots:

Rest up Cho, you're doing important work. I'd imagine growing a person takes a lot out of you, so don't over do it (easy to say, but hard to live by, right?).

I'm so tired. I think it was 84 here today, so a far cry from MN. My friend picked me up and we went down town to the MOCA and to a craft fair and an artisanal food fair. We parked up by the MOCA and walked a mile down to the fairs since we'd already paid $6 to park and driving downtown sucks. Every single time we go down town together we end up in some crazy traffic debacle due to a parade or rally. We just barely avoided it this time by leaving the car at the museum, so that was awesome. After spending five hours at the fairs and acquiring a ton of stuff, the uphill (massive hills) hike to the car was daunting, but we took a slightly longer route to avoid the worst of the hills.

Anyway! At the food fair I got duck bacon (hand made in small batches), a carmalized bacon bread pudding with salted caramel sauce, a sukiyaki pork belly with various japanese mushrooms (I can't remember which ones) meat pie, a jar of spiced peach butter, 2 jars of hong kong habanero mustard, and 2 bottles of basil pesto vinaigrette. There's kind of a bacon/pork theme now that I type it all out. The meat pie is dinner and it is amazing. The bread pudding might be dessert, but I don't know if I can handle it after all the tasting we did. We didn't get lunch, but a bakery we like was at the craft fair so we each got a brownie and then we tasted everything at the food fair.

I'll try to post my craft fair stuff in non-HH. I don't want to post too much shopping stuff here.

These are the fairs we went to:

My feet hurt, but my belly is getting filled up with pork belly as I type, so it def could be worse. Much worse.

MT, you're KILLING me! :faint: OMG DUCK bacon?!?! Sukiyaki pork belly?!?!

Cho, gorgeous runner!! Quite the statement! And I saw Chubsy too  hanging out on the sofa... poor baby. All the chaos :p And YOU, missy. Have some rest.

MB, Sacch, Chez, Gingey, etc., the Jonathan Safran Foer arrived yesterday; I peeked at it and it's super cool. The uber rare Nabokov Poems and Problems also arrived... $65 for a paperback. It's out of print. Chez, thanks SO much for pointing us towards S&Co and NYU!!:flowers:

^^ I keep watching the Metrodome collapse over and over!
But da Bears better get it in gear.

ha- the bears suck and maybe now i will stop hearing bear fans talk about a superbowl, since they played a "real" team today and we see what happened... sorry i don't mean to offend anyone, i just get tired of hearing about them ;)

yeah, that collapse is scary!! i think i heard its happened before, is that right? i cannot believe how much snow MN recd.

Cho, i really hope you get some rest - anyway to get a prenatal massage? I love the staircase, very nice!!!

Well, I lost our TV argument and we now have a huge tv in our living room, but i won the new couch and new paint job argument... compromise, compromise compromise right???

cho, looks awesome! can't believe how moved-in it looks! hope you get some r&r.

mt, that sounds so YUM. what a great day... art, craft fair, good food and friends. that's the best. i've never had duck bacon. that sounds seriously good -- even better than duck ham. i'm getting hungry.

jenni, yay! for fresh books. i've wrapped mine and won't open it until the new year. to me, from me. :)

hope everyone had a good weekend. i got the last of my christmas shopping done after fighting my way through hundreds of santas that came for santacon. it was pretty wild.

like many of you, i love food. alas, dh only eats because he has to. bummed about missing out on the nyc food scene, i joined a foodie group. aour first trip was to visit jean georges for lunch! it's been a while since i've been so i was super excited. next time, i'll take pics of the food and the menu.

the foodie group host is a major gourmet, so i hope to eat my way through many of the michelin starred restaurants. plus, he has so many foodie hook-ups. his gf works for valrhona. omg. chocolates.

man, i'd be so much cuter if i didn't love food so much.
