Have you ever tried to leave Vuitton?

I purchased my first luxury bag from Louis Vuitton. And although I now have bags from many other fashion houses, including several from Chanel, I always gravitate back to LV. Chanel's designs seem stagnant, and the price increases are outrageous especially in light of some of their quality issues. I haven't had product issues with any of my LV pieces and I have mostly received amazing service at the boutiques.

Like most of you, LV will always be in my heart and collection. The first one I bought was speedy mono 25, I remember the price was still $250. I added more designer bags + accessories from Chanel, Hermes, Balenciaga and some contemporary designers like marc jacob, tory burch, rebecca minkoff etc. Then I hit financial moment where I had to let go almost 90% of my collection. I was sad but not regretting it because I know what had to be prioritized and I believed one day I could be able to purchase them back again. Two bags that I kept were LV (neverfull and speedy).
Years go by, slowly but surely I start adding new bags/slgs from LV again and other fashion houses. I’m happy to see my collection grows little by little, thank to God.
Since now I’m pretty much happy with my classic LV collection, for future purchases I probably only to get item that I really want not impulse buy just because it’s a collab/seasonal items. I want to make sure that I use it well not only for staring at it and put it back in the box.
I left LV for temporary but now I’m back.

I think the thing with LV to me, besides it being my first luxury designers bag, is that its never going out of style, it holds its value, and it's sturdy enough to last. I bought a lot of bags from other brands, but I get tired of the style quick, and if I try to sell those bags, I might be lucky to get 60% of what I paid for even if the bags were bought a year or two ago. I only buy canvas bags from LV tho.

I pretty much stick with LV LE bags. But I’ve been disappointed with design and huge price increases since Virgil been at the helm. I find there are way too many collections throughout the year. First it is pre-spring and pre-fall in addition to regular fall/winter and spring/summer. Now they don’t even pretend anymore. LV just keep on churning out a new collection every month or two.... and many of them with awful designs. I used to buy 2, 3 keepalls per collection in addition to lg, slgs, rtw, shoes, etc. But now I’m skipping most as most of the stuff Virgil designed are Instagram friendly but not necessarily wearable in normal circumstances without looking ridiculous.

I find brands like Goyard, Dior, and Hermes are more suitable for me at the moment. I do find once in awhile Virgil designed bags interesting. But I no longer buy nearly as much as I did few years ago when Kim Jones was at the helm. I may come back to LV more often when they have a new men’s designer. For now, it’s just dabbles here and there in LV land for me. Plus with covid, it’s not like I can use new bags/ rtw as often as pre-covid since I’m trying to stay at home as much as possible.

In the pre Tom Ford days, when I was younger and first had spare disposable income to spend on luxury items, I used to enjoy shopping in Gucci, at the previous New Bond Street store that ran through to Albermarle Street and had that fabulous double staircase in the middle. I 'discovered' LV fifteen years ago making a Damier Ebene purchase in Paris, prior to the Champs Elysses Flagship, but started shopping in NBS with a few accessories. For my taste Damier Infini was inspired and I now enjoy an onyx P de J and a rare meteor Tadao; the black Damier Geant pm Messenger is ever practical; I have never regretted the Christopher Nemeth 'Rope' blanket and wish I had one of the coats
Now the confession - my attention has now moved over to Hermes and I have not bought anything from LV since the days of brown boxes.

Does anyone have this bag??? Is this an older style??? I don't even really know, but it popped up on the internet and i love it.

Like many on this thread, LV was my first designer love! Gucci was the first premier brand I actually purchased from but the experience wasn’t anything like LV. Once I bought my first LV bag, I became obsessed with brand and quickly purchased quite a few bags. For some reason, I’m not really interested in my LV bags as much these days but really cherish my SLGs, especially since the prices keep increasing and I don’t think I’d buy any of them at their current prices.

I don’t find the women collections that interesting anymore and have since ventured into Chanel and Dior. Especially Dior, since their customer service is the best of any fashion house I’ve experienced. I’m also interested in exploring Goyard and keep my eye on Hermès even though I’m not yet really to get a bag there.

Despite venturing off, I like to keep my eye on what LV is doing and I stay in touch with one of my SAs whenever he sees something new in store that might interest me or vice versa.

I have no LV bags but can respect the timelessness of some of the designs of this fashion house. It is what draws people and why for many it is their first designer bag. It's not for me but I understand the appeal.
