Whew I would have lied too if I'd been in your place. I thought your answer of "I wish" was perfect.
Unfortunately my DH is almost as LV crazy as me so he knows how much they cost but I must confess, I've told him I traded stuff with other boardies when I didn't......I'm bad I know. V

That is so cool...I wish my husband liked it as much as I do.

i've lied about mine before.
my coursemate criticized me for spending so much on a bag. not that i felt bad or cared about what he thought, i just wanted to shut him up because he was ANNOYING. so i told him it's a fake. then he goes and and says how superficial i am to buy a fake. i shouldn't try to fit in yada yada.

I've had a couple of guys that scared me once ask me about my LV wanting to know if it was real. It was late and I had to stop for gas, I went inside to pay and a guy asked me, I turned to him and said "I wish!" He just kinda grinned and I paid and got out of there.

If I was in that situation, I would prolly lie to. I lie sometimes to my mom when I buy too many bags, I would often take off a few hundred bucks from the original price, so she won't have a heart attack!

My dad, well he's like living in another era. He dont do designer stuffs to begin with, and he always think a 50 bucks purse is already enuff for you, and I can guarantee you that he will have a stroke if he know how much my whole closet is worth of, LOL!

I have never lied about a purse, but I would lie to my dad if he finds out what I have, but he's not really intrested in bags, so he would probably assume that both my LV's and Chanel is from the local luggage and handbag-store. However, I did lie to him when I bought a pair of chanel-sunglasses as I told him they were about $100, when they in reality were above $400.

Hmm...I haven't bought mine yet, but when I do, I'll just say (if asked) that it was a gift. Even if I buy it for myself, I won't be lying because it will be a gift to myself.:amuse:

My parents know because I tell them if they ask, and plus they got me my first one when my mom got her Boulogne, so since they know what it should cost, I see no reason to hide it. My dad is the saver/frugal type, so he thinks it's nuts, but he does understand that a girl needs a nice purse or two! And I'm spending my own $$, so he can't really say anything, but he would if I started buying more than 2 a year. Not that I'd listen to him, though!!

My dad discovered my brother's LV billfold mono wallet when he was doing some ironing the last time I was home and when he pulled it out to show my mom, he said "Look! This one's into LV, too!". My mom and I laughed and laughed- we didn't even have to convert him, he just has good taste!

I did have one co-worker b**ch who came out and asked if mine was real. Luckily, my friend who was with us stood up for me and told her "Of course it is, why would she carry anything else?". It was great.

Unfortunatly, my husband knows about elux and if I try to lie (which I do!) he just goes on the site and looks. So, now I have to try to combine holidays (anniversary & Mother's day is my next try) to get him not to freak out when I purchase one. I just can't help it though, I waited till I was 36 before I could afford my first LV and now I find I get bored with the same one after six months or so. It's a pricey weakness to have!!!!:smile1:

Wow, I love this thread...i thought i was the only one uncomfortable about it! I usually tell people that it's fake and say shhh and hope they leave me alone.

Interesting how our love for one thing (bags) reveals a lot about social interactions and class standing...

My dad knows about the zipped compact wallet, since he and my mom got it for me for my graduation, but......he has no CLUE about the epi soufflot and he's not going to find out :p . He'd have a heart attack if he knew I got my 3rd LV piece this year!

LOL!!!!!

I lie to my parents...although my mom now has an idea of what they cost because I told her I made $750 selling my Belem PM. So I know she's smart enough to realize that since the purse was used (although it was in brand new condition) that it must have cost more than $750 when I bought it.

My father saw one and said, "I like that bag! How much was it?" I just looked at him and he asked "I don't want to know, do I?" So he knows they're pricey, but he would DIE if he guessed how high they are!

My husband knows how much almost everything costs. I have definitely found some great deals on eBay, but if I'm on a serious buying spree and he's complaining about the number of new pieces coming to the house, I shave dollars off of what they really cost me.

This reminds me of a story. Last year my brother and I went in together and bought my dad an LV wallet for Father's day. My bro lives in TN and I live in TX so bro told me to just go and get it and mail it to dad. So after dad got it he finally, after a week, admitted he felt the mono was too girly. So luckily my dad has a Saks LV boutique in his city, even though it's across the city. So I called him and emailed him the mapquest directions and called the store and told them he would be coming to please be sweet to him and show him all the other wallets. The sa was amazing.

So he goes over there and calls me as he's walking out of the mall and when I answer he calls me by my whole name, which I don't remember him doing since I was 3 and he caught me eating dirt in the back yard when I decided to give our white Persian a mud bath. (me and kitty ended up in the tub together!) Anyhow he said "When I asked her how much of a credit I had to spend and she told me I almost passed out in the store," (My dad's a little melodramatic) so he said she just grinned and said "your kids must really love you!" hahaha. that was so funny, but now my dad feels really special, he has nothing designer, (which is funny bc he lives in a $250K house and drives brand new pickups) and the first sunday he took it out to pay for his lunch after church all the other deacons saw it and were like OH WOW, aren't you fancy!!! he got a black wallet, so they must really notice LV. He hangs out with alot of very wealthy people so it made him feel good.
